Audio & Music Producer at Berklee College of Music.
I started playing guitar at around 12 and within a year or two was recording ideas and attempts at songs on a computer. I was fortunate enough that my private guitar teacher had taught himself to use ProTools and taught a class at my middle school for students to start recording their instruments into GarageBand.
I believe that in a way we as a musical species have been building up to this point – where with the use of synthesizers, processors and computers we have absolute control over the sounds we produce, their harmonics, characteristics, partials, and the ability to edit in minute spacings in time in our compositions – something that I imagine composers of yesteryear would have enjoyed and exercised in their compositions had the technology existed in their lifetime.
Some genres that describe my music are a combination of hip-hop, house, downtempo, psychedelic, and garage electronic. I think my genre is highly competitive because it combines the most digestible and groovy parts of traditional world music, European and American harmonies and melodies, as well as ‘Vereséian’ sound work. For this reason I believe electronic music is in a way a culmination of all aforementioned genres and can take many different forms for different activities and moods.
