Query
Image of me by me removed??? If this is not malfunction then the function is wrong
Hi, this bot removed an image of me, made by me, and released to the public domain.

The image was and it appeared on my user page.

From reading the archives of this talk page it seems that although the owner/operated of this bot feels it is not malfunctioning it actually is (otherwise it wouldn't be generating so many errors found by real people).

I would greatly appreciate knowing the rationale for which the image was removed.

I need help renaming about 200 articles. Doing this by hand would take me all day.

Thank you Dananimal (talk) 02:43, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Can your bot rename articles, or be adapted to do so?

Re: image removal
If so, please contact me.

As the image in question is part of a user’s communication with me, I am content to leave the placeholder as it is. — Knowledge Seeker দ 07:40, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you.

If you are here to register a complaint regarding this bot's edits, before doing so please note:
 • There is a very clear policy regarding the use of fair use images outside of the main article namespace (the actual encyclopedia). This policy is located at Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria item #9. We do not permit the use of copyrighted images on portals, userpages, talk pages, or templates.
 • Even if you uploaded the image yourself, if it is copyrighted by someone else, you do not have the right of displaying it in a gallery on your userpage.
 • Permission to use on Wikipedia granted by a copyright holder does not grant permission to use outside of the main article namespace. There are two categories of images at Wikipedia; free license and non-free license. If it's non-free, even if used under permission on Wikipedia, it can not be used outside of the main article namespace. For it to be used so, it must be available under a free license.
 • Read this talk page and its archives before registering your complaint. It is likely someone has already registered a similar complaint, and that the complaint has already been answered.
 • Bug reports are very welcome; removing images as this bot is doing per policy is not a bug.

Shadowyze[edit]

This is to let you know that the article on Shadowyze has been targeted for deletion and needs support.

Inappropriate & multiple messages?[edit]

I have had numerous messages left on my talk page by this bot, for using a so-called "copyrighted image". In actual fact the image is part of a userbox that I got from an official userbox source. In addition, the image cannot be removed by the bot since it is a userbox template. This has resulted in numerous warnings by the bot, some within a minute of each other. Very annoying. Also I call into question the validity of the warning since it is a widely accepted userbox. If the image had been unacceptable I should think it would have been removed by now.

Image in question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Catcher-in-the-rye-red-cover.jpg

And here is the userbox in question:

This user feels the urge to buy just one more copy of The Catcher in the Rye.

thanks for telling me this will not be repeated in future
