== Potential conflict on where US 395 Alternate becomes US 395 Business ==

You are encouraged to change

LJ,

: <code><nowiki><span style="background:#006A4D; padding:2px">'''[[User:Ljthefro|<font color="white">LJ</font>]]&amp;nbsp;[[User talk:Ljthefro#top|<font color="white">↗</font>]]'''</span></nowiki></code> : <span style="background:#006A4D; padding:2px">'''[[User:Ljthefro|<span style="color: white;">LJ</span>]]&nbsp;[[User talk:Ljthefro#top|<span style="color: white;">↗</span>]]'''</span>

In the exit list for [[U.S. Route 395 in Nevada]] it is stated that US 395 Alternate becomes US 395 Business at Exit 57 along I-580. However, the KML file at [[U.S. Route 395 Alternate]] has the changeover at exit 61. Per my memory the Exit list is right and the KML file is wrong. However, do you know what NDOT is officially saying on the subject? I just discovered this discrepancy after reverting what I thought were erroneous IP edits. I just want to know if I need to eat crow or not. =-) [[User:Moabdave|Dave]] ([[User talk:Moabdave|talk]]) 19:10, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

to

:It's tough... NDOT just converted all of the former SR 430 segment to US 395A, so the alternate route ends officially at Patriot Blvd (just north of the exit 61). I think this was done for ease of bookkeeping for NDOT--I don't believe the alternate route is signed north of exit 57. NDOT doesn't officially maintain all of the business route (which is sparsely signed anyway), so it's tougher to verify its extents--NDOT doesn't have a public log tracking any of the US or Interstate business routes since so many are either not maintained or cosigned as other state highways. However, I believe the AASHTO approval for US 395 Business from several years ago runs along all of Virginia St in Reno down to the SR 341/431 junction, and it was signed southbound several years ago as ending just north of exit 57. So officially, I believe they overlap. I personally think it would have been better for NDOT to retain SR 430 or reclassify Virginia St officially as US 395B between exits 57 & 61. <span style="background:#006A4D; padding:2px">'''[[User:Ljthefro|<font color="white">LJ</font>]]&nbsp;[[User talk:Ljthefro#top|<font color="white">↗</font>]]'''</span> 11:44, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

== Douglas County, NV ==

==Disambiguation link notification for January 13==

I'm not a regular Wikipedia editor anymore, but I noticed some edits you made nearly a decade ago to the [[Douglas County, Nevada]] article. I was reading articles related to [[Sacramento metropolitan area|metropolitan Sacramento]], California. At the time you made your edits--reverting bot edits you thought were "inappropriate" or that couldn't be true "by no stretch of the imagination"--the Sacramento article was properly sourced and included Douglas County/[[Gardnerville Ranchos, Nevada]].

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited [[Nevada State Route 878]], you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page [[Slide Mountain]] ([[tools:~dispenser/cgi-bin/dablinks.py/Nevada_State_Route_878|check to confirm]]&nbsp;|&nbsp;[[tools:~dispenser/cgi-bin/dab_solver.py/Nevada_State_Route_878|fix with Dab solver]]). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. <small>Read the [[User:DPL bot/Dablink notification FAQ|FAQ]]{{*}} Join us at the [[Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links|DPL WikiProject]].</small>

US [[Primary statistical area]]s are updated every 4-5 years. There should be an update this year. The current delineations include Douglas County in the [[Reno–Sparks metropolitan area|Reno-Carson City-Fernley, NV]] [[Combined Statistical Area]], but Douglas County was a component of the Sacramento CSA despite the extent of your imagination. Here's a 2013 US [[Bureau of Labor Statistics]] report: https://www.bls.gov/regions/west/news-release/2014/unemployment_sacramento_20140221.htm

== [[Summerlin Parkway]]/[[Nevada State Route 529]] ==

== You're pretty good with Nevada roads ==

Recently, I took notice of the jurisdiction switches of Summerlin Parkway from the City of Las Vegas and Nevada State Route 529 to the city of Carson City. Would it be appropriate to move Summerlin Parkway to Nevada State Route 613 and Nevada State Route 529 to U.S. Route 395 Business (Carson City) to better reflect these changes in jurisdiction? Thanks. [[User:TextClick|TextClick]] ([[User talk:TextClick|talk]]) 01:14, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

I was wondering if you'd know how to clarify something about where exactly the terminus for a certain highway lies. That certain highway happens to be [[Nevada State Route 377]], which I just recently created a KML for. The article just says the highway ends in Manhattan, there's no StreetView (so I can't look for an END SR 377 sign), and the county map in that PDF in the references is no help. Would you know how to find the exact terminus? Thanks. [[User talk:TCN7JM|<font face ="Tahoma" color="blue">T</font>]][[Special:Contributions/TCN7JM|<font face ="Tahoma" color="red">C</font>]][[User:TCN7JM|<font face="Tahoma" color="gray">N7</font><font face="Tahoma" color="black">JM</font>]] 02:03, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

:I would leave Summerlin Parkway as is, per WP:COMMONNAME, at least until the SR 613 moniker becomes more well known (or at least signed in the field). However, I do think it would be appropriate to move SR 529 to the business route title now.

:NDOT doesn't always do a good job of ending routes at an easy to find point, so it does take some investigation. The most recent State Maintained Highways book simply says "from SR 376/Tonopah-Austin Road to 6.597 miles east in Manhattan", so that's not any real help. With no other major references readily available from NDOT (such as a straight-line diagram or milepost log), it does make determining SR termini a pain sometimes.

:NDOT does have an [http://www.nevadadot.com/uploadedFiles/NDOT/Traveler_Info/Maps/manhattan.pdf area map for Manhattan] which shows a fairly defined point of where the route ends...of course, it's not at an intersection or other easily-identifiable feature. Going on to Google Maps using the streets on the NDOT Manhattan map as a reference, I believe point "B" on [https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=NV-377+E&daddr=NV-377+W&hl=en&ll=38.538733,-117.077157&spn=0.006437,0.011362&sll=38.537525,-117.07027&sspn=0.012873,0.022724&geocode=FZmKTAIdQ_QD-Q%3BFfQPTAId74wF-Q&t=h&mra=mr&z=17 these Google Maps Directions] is the official end of SR 377. Note two clues when looking at the satellite imagery that seem to denote the maintenance boundary: 1) there appears to be a visible change in pavement quality (east of here the pavement is in considerably worse condition), and 2) the white edge line disappears here.

:An interesting note with this one is that Google says the route is only 6.4 miles long, not the nearly 6.6 miles referenced in the SMH book. However, NDOT has been intermittently reviewing contract plans/stationing/files over the past few years, and updating highway lengths in the SMH book and MP panels in the field—thus, it is entirely possible that the length stated in the SMH book is inaccurate.

:Hope all that helped! -- <span style="background:#006A4D; padding:2px">'''[[User:Ljthefro|<font color="white">LJ</font>]]&nbsp;[[User talk:Ljthefro#top|<font color="white">↗</font>]]'''</span> 02:58, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

::Wow, that helps a lot. Thanks! It seems I've made the KML a fraction of a mile too long, so I'll make sure to edit it to make it a bit shorter sometime soon. Again, thanks. == Question about the junction limits for I-80. ==

== A new resource ==

Hi. My name is Christopher Thompson. I wanted to talk about that last edit. Is there a certain rule on the I-80 page for keeping only 8 junctions? <!-- Template:Unsigned --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment added by [[User:Christopher Thompson|Christopher Thompson]] ([[User talk:Christopher Thompson#top|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/Christopher Thompson|contribs]]) 18:26, 5 December 2019 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

You might find [[Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Resources/AASHTO minutes]] and its companion template, {{tl|AASHTO minutes}} handy. We've found a database of AASHTO's meeting minutes and uploaded separate copies of files not previously available from 1967–88. <span style="background:#006B54; padding:2px;">'''[[User:Imzadi1979|<font color="white">Imzadi&nbsp;1979</font>]]&nbsp;[[User talk:Imzadi1979|<font color="white"><big>→</big></font>]]'''</span> 10:08, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

:According to the [[WP:USRD/STDS|WikiProject U.S. Roads Standards]] page section on Infoboxes, the major junctions listed in the infobox should be limited to the most major interstates (typically those ending in "0" or "5"). For a nationwide article such as I-80, we also try to ensure that there is not too much representation from one state.

I haven’t been following that discussion. I have briefly considered combining some short Nevada SR articles into a single list in the past. I didn’t do any work on consolidating in part because past precedent has supported separate primary state highway articles, and other than maybe one AFD Nevada SR articles haven’t faced much scrutiny. I also seem to recall some discussion about the “shorter than one mile” criterion for such lists being somewhat arbitrary. I have given some thought to combining articles on some pre-1976 state routes into RCS-style lists, as there are still a number of these that are stub and aren’t able to be merged into the history of post-1976 route articles—I haven’t been super active in editing lately due to non-wiki life, so haven’t implemented this. <b style="background:#006A4D; padding:2px">[[User:Ljthefro|<span style="color: white;">LJ</span>]]&nbsp;[[User talk:Ljthefro#top|<span style="color: white">↗</span>]]</b> 23:46, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

@Anomalocaris: - I updated my signature a few days ago with the code you suggested. Please forgive my naivety, but what exactly is a "lint error"? I've been seeing mention of this lately on a few talk pages, but all I know about "lint" is what I clear out of the clothes dryer... -- LJ  00:36, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for February 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Nevada State Route 169, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Muddy River (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Douglas County, NV[edit]

I'm not a regular Wikipedia editor anymore, but I noticed some edits you made nearly a decade ago to the Douglas County, Nevada article. I was reading articles related to metropolitan Sacramento, California. At the time you made your edits--reverting bot edits you thought were "inappropriate" or that couldn't be true "by no stretch of the imagination"--the Sacramento article was properly sourced and included Douglas County/Gardnerville Ranchos, Nevada.

USPrimary statistical areas are updated every 4-5 years. There should be an update this year. The current delineations include Douglas County in the Reno-Carson City-Fernley, NV Combined Statistical Area, but Douglas County was a component of the Sacramento CSA despite the extent of your imagination. Here's a 2013 US Bureau of Labor Statistics report: https://www.bls.gov/regions/west/news-release/2014/unemployment_sacramento_20140221.htm

Rather than going with what you can or cannot imagine, you might check the Federal Register for Standards for Delineating Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Areas.

Cf. OMB BULLETIN NO. 10-02 (2009) and OMB BULLETIN NO. 13-01 (2013). (Reno CSA is coded 456 and Sacramento CSA is coded 472).--47.208.9.47 (talk) 21:53, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 12[edit]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of U.S. Routes in Nevada, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Interstate 580 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

(Opt-out instructions.) --DPL bot (talk) 09:17, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Recently, I took notice of the jurisdiction switches of Summerlin Parkway from the City of Las Vegas and Nevada State Route 529 to the city of Carson City. Would it be appropriate to move Summerlin Parkway to Nevada State Route 613 and Nevada State Route 529 to U.S. Route 395 Business (Carson City) to better reflect these changes in jurisdiction? Thanks. TextClick (talk) 01:14, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would leave Summerlin Parkway as is, per WP:COMMONNAME, at least until the SR 613 moniker becomes more well known (or at least signed in the field). However, I do think it would be appropriate to move SR 529 to the business route title now.

Question about the junction limits for I-80.[edit]

Hi. My name is Christopher Thompson. I wanted to talk about that last edit. Is there a certain rule on the I-80 page for keeping only 8 junctions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Christopher Thompson (talkcontribs) 18:26, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

According to the WikiProject U.S. Roads Standards page section on Infoboxes, the major junctions listed in the infobox should be limited to the most major interstates (typically those ending in "0" or "5"). For a nationwide article such as I-80, we also try to ensure that there is not too much representation from one state.
