WBEK-CA is a low powered independent station serving the Augusta, Georgia television market. It broadcasts from analog signal on UHF channel 16.
A long history has come from this station. Years ago, WBEK was the WB affilate for the Augusta Area, "The WB on WBEK 67". A change of call letters and frequencies led the WB affilate to WBAU 23, its present location. From then on, WBEK was a UPN affiliate, it is unclear at the present moment if Augusta had a UPN affilate before the change-up. WBEK has tried to maintain its spot as one of the "top" local affiliates, in which WRDW, WAGT, WJBF, and WFXG vie. WBEK has had trouble in that department. When the switch over from WB to UPN came about, WBEK had become a low-power station. Then in 2004, the network affiliateship was changed over to WRDW's digital subchannel 31.2 and it became known as "UPN Augusta". WBEK had become independent and then carried limited programming. After awhile, WBEK picked up the AmericaOne affilateship, which to this day is unknown if they even still carry it. WBEK now just operates local programming, old sitcoms, black and white western movies, paid programming, and independent productions to fill up its time slot.
