Wikipedia:Questia/Nav Questia is an online research library for books and journal articles focusing on the humanities and social sciences. Questia has curated titles from over 300 trusted publishers, including 77,000 full-text books and 4 million journal, magazine, and newspaper articles, as well as encyclopedia entries. Paid access to Questia costs $99 per year.

As of August 2012 Questia has generously agreed to give free, full-access 1-year accounts for 2000 Wikipedia editors to use, distributed at the discretion of the community. Editors will need a 1-year-old account and 1000 edits in order to qualify. At the end of 1 year, editors who found the resource useful can simply re-apply.

Requirements

Step 2: Email and using access

After you have received approval for an account, you will be contacted via a Wikipedia email from the account coordinator; be sure to check your spam folder. The email will contain instructions for activating your account. Follow the given instructions, and make sure to actively use your access to improve Wikipedia content!

Changes coming soon

We are in the process of developing a digital tool to make this process more user friendly and make it easier for us to give you access to partners.
Interested in helping process accounts or coordinate Wikipedia Library activities? Apply at Wikipedia:TWL/Coordinators/Signup to become a volunteer account coordinator.

If you don't quite meet the experience requirements but think you would still be a strong candidate for access, feel free to apply and you may be considered.

If citing a book, optionally adding the ISBN of the cited book (found inside the Questia book, on its copyright page) increases both accessibility and verifiability for those without Questia access, who may then use the automatically-generated ISBN hyperlink. ISBNs can be included in many citation templates (including cite web), by means of the |isbn= parameter. Alternatively, as in the example below, immediately after (outside) the citation and Questia reference templates, simply type the acronym ISBN (with no punctuation) followed by one space and then the 13-digit (preferred) or 10-digit ISBN.

Apply or renew

  1. Add your username at the bottom with #{{user8|USERNAME|Project=code}} (eg. {{user8|Example|Project=en}}). Tell us what areas you're active in and how you'll use the Questia resources. If you had an account, it expires after one year, so please reapply.
  2. Ragityman (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Application for new access. I hope to combine Questia resources with those of HighBeam and ScotlandsPeople, to do some serious article creation, as my situation is changing, and I will soon have more time to devote to more labor-intensive projects on enWikipedia. Questia will provide information regarding ethnology, cultural anthropology, history, and particularly the history of technology. Rags (talk) 21:59, 16 July 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  3. רחל1 (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) My account has expired and I wish to renew it. I find Questia very helpful resource for writing articles in Hebrew Wikipedia. Thank you, רחל1 (talk) 04:57, 17 July 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  4. Adam Cuerden (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I can use this towards ocumenting things in the Verdi projects I'm working on. Adam Cuerden (talk) 18:08, 26 July 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  5. Rhododendrites (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Renewing. No one particular subject area. History, cultural studies, technology... Thanks. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 03:09, 27 July 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  6. Historiograf (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Renewing. Today received help request (can you help meanwhile??), only another de-Questia-user at https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bibliotheksrecherche#Questia seems active. Thanks --Historiograf (talk) 14:48, 1 August 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  7. magiciandude (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I reapplied earlier this year and was approved, but the e-mail with the activation code never came. Erick (talk) 14:22, 5 August 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  8. Macspaunday (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) May I request a renewal of an earlier (expired) Questia account? I am active in English and American Literature and a few other fields, here and on WikiQuote, and use Questia for accurate citations and details. Thank you. Macspaunday (talk) 21:04, 8 August 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  9. Iñaki LL (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Hi, my membership expired. I deal with Basque and Pyrenean history (contemporary, 7-9th century, 19th century), geography, and culture matters. Relevance and accuracy, I attempt to avoid dependence on Spanish language sources and get access to the information cited in article references. Thanks Iñaki LL (talk) 22:46, 10 August 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  10. GeneralizationsAreBad (talk · contribs · count) I work extensively in military history, and access to Questia would help me tremendously by providing me with additional quality sources to work with. I have already worked on Korean War, Battle of Kursk, and Operation Barbarossa, and have promoted the latter two to GA. I would also be able to branch out further into areas such as political science, general history, and counter-terrorism. Thanks, GABHello! 21:27, 20 August 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  11. wikimostafa (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) My interests for contribution are arts and literature. Wikimostafa (talk) 14:08, 6 September 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  12. Bogger (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Account expired, September 2015. Reapplying. Use mostly for Irish articles. Bogger (talk) 12:59, 14 September 2015 (UTC)-  Done[reply]
  13. Paulscrawl (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Good source for expanding cultural coverage of Wikipedia, with many familiar but currently inaccessible university press titles. I was just reaching for it to add needed secondary, non-technical evidence based medicine citations when I noticed account expired. Thank you! -- Paulscrawl (talk) 01:43, 17 September 2015 (UTC)-  Done[reply]
  14. Elph (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) It's can help me to improve the quality of our articles in ar.wiki. --Abbas 05:37, 18 September 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
  15. Continua Evoluzione (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I focus mainly on articles about Greek mythology and ancient Greece on the Italian Wikipedia. I think the Questia library can help me a lot for this matter, both to expand existing pages and to create new ones. Currently I have no access to Questia. 16. Cerevisae (talk · contribs) I have been a Wikipedia editor for 6 years with over 3000 edits. My major areas of edits would include political and socio-economic conditions in Malaysia and Sarawak. Such books and journal archive would definitely benefit me in researching about Malaysia and Sarawak in the 1970s and 1980s or even in the 1900s before the formation of Malaysia.Cerevisae (talk) 23:04, 22 September 2015 (UTC) -  Done[reply]
