Deutsch: Die Gemeinde Franzenheim bildete bis zum Ende des Alten Reiches zusammen mit Kernscheid die domkapitularische Herrschaft Franzenheim. Hierfür stehen die gekreuzten Petrus-Schlüssel im oberen Schildteil.
Der römische Portikus im unteren Schildteil ist nach dem heute im Landesmuseum Trier befindlichen Portikus der Franzenheimer Villa rustica des 3. Jahrhunderts gestaltet, die 1903 ausgegraben wurde. Der Portikus erinnert an die römischen Wurzeln der Siedlung. Die Farbe Grün steht für die heute noch starke Prägung des Ortes durch die Landschaft.
