KLOF Magazine, (previously Folk Radio UK) is an Independent online music and culture magazine launched in 2004 by Alex Gallacher.[1]

Content

[edit]

The magazine primarily features writings on music as well as interviews with a wide range of notable artists and musicians.[2] The magazine has also published articles on literature, including graphic novels and poetry.

Previously known as Folk Radio UK, they changed their name to KLOF Magazine on 10th February 2024.[3]

Their coverage is described as eclectic and non-mainstream and includes Folk music, jazz, Psychedelic music, world music, alternative, Experimental Music and avant-garde. [4]

Alongside interviews, the magazine also invites musicians to write guest articles, this includes a popular series called Off the Shelf, in which artists photograph and present objects from their homes and talk about them.[5]

Alex Gallacher, currently based in Somerset,[6] is the editor and also writes for the magazine. Its staff list includes the journalists Robin Denselow and Colin Irwin (journalist), as well as former writers for Melody Maker and Record Collector.

KLOF Magazine supplements its written content with audio features - mixtapes, shows, and playlists, including a weekly rolling playlist called the Monday Morning Brew.

[edit]

A specialist folk music channel was launched on Deezer in 2012 which was curated by KLOF Magazine's editor.[7][8]
