The photograph of Tatya Tope after he was captured should continue to be there in the article for its historical significance. But a decent picture of the great freedom fighter should also be there with his profile. Kanchanamala (talk) 02:26, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Proofs please. Can you confirm that the massacre at Sati Chaura Ghat was premeditated? Or the massacre at Bibighar? There are sufficient statements to prove that both of them emanated out of confusion. And there is another argument that Bibighar was a response to what happened in Allahabad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.216.30.156 (talk) 22:16, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know about "proofs." We are talking the "fog of war" here. The soldiers thought that an order had been given. Their side lost. Lost, too, was the person who gave the order. Not much difference between "premeditated" and "confusion." People were killed. I don't see the word "premeditated" in the article. "Things happen" when soldiers turn their rifles loose on their officers in rebellion. These things are not always mutually beneficial. Oppose- Per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:RS. According to google ngram, Tantia Tope was the name first recorded in 1857 and currently more common than Tatya Tope. WP:RS states that we use the name in teritary sources such as other Encyclopedias, here, Brittannica also uses Tantia. Also about your claim of Tantia being the 'British' name, its more about the Marathi spelling Tantia (तांत्या) and Hindi spelling Tatya (तात्या), instead of the British name and Indian name.
