In order to attempt to increase activity among editors, an awards system has been set up. There are 40 levels that one may achieve by performing various actions to earn points (see below). Participation in the awards system is completely voluntary.
Please go to the talkpage and make a subpage for yourself if you would like to participate in the awards system. Please copy and paste the entire "points" section to your subpage.
In order to earn points, please put submissions on your user page and then tally up the points. Then, post on the project's talk page for someone to review your total in order to make sure it is accurate and assign your level (items should never be removed from your page). Please note for calculating points, the totals listed WILL NOW stack.
Each item will be approved by a reviewer and certified at the top with a point total and their signature (timestamped). Please note that ONLY items you personally worked on are counted.
GANs, FAs, and FLs may be credited to multiple people if there were co-nominators.
Points are counted from all-time contributions, not when this idea was conceived.
Points still count even if the article status is later lost. The person still achieved the status at one point and thus it still counts. It may be counted twice (or as many times as needed) if the status is later re-obtained by the original nominator.
Templates are stylized as {{Insert here}}. Editors who have not registered are considered unregistered and do not possess a rank. Rank points were calculated using the formula : 1000*1.696^X where H rank is just 1000. SSS rank would be 750*1.696^10
Use by placing {{subst:The Tropical Cyclone Barnstar|1=Put your message here. ~~~~}}or{{subst:The Tropical Cyclone Barnstar|1=Put your message here. ~~~~|2=alt}} for the first or second versions, respectively, on the talk page of the recipient. This award may be given to anyone who has excelled in contributing to the realm of tropical cyclone articles or assisting in the WikiProject itself.
This award may be bestowed to editors who makes highly outstanding and exceptional work or efforts for the WikiProject itself - this includes activities outside of Wikipedia that greatly benefited the project like our Discord server and Wikimedia Commons. This award can be also called WikiProject Tropical Cyclones Lifetime Achievement Award and was first awarded to Hurricanehink in February 9, 2021 after a discussion that was started all the way back into October 2019. To award the Golden Cyclonic Barnstar, you should try to establish consensus within the WikiProject by nominating someone in a discussion (example) before placing them in any user talk pages – thus, this award will be presented to it's recipient in the name of WikiProject as a whole. Once you established the consensus, you can place this to the recipient of the award's user talk page by using this: {{subst:The Golden Cyclonic Barnstar|1=Put your message here. ~~~~}}. Due to the nature of this barnstar, this should not be awarded randomly elsewhere.
