states and the District of Columbia. Nonfarm payroll employment increased in 6 states and
was essentially unchanged in 44 states and the District.

lower in 56, and unchanged in 28. Nonfarm payroll employment increased over the year in 49
metropolitan areas, decreased in 2, and was essentially unchanged in 338.
