Santa Fe Drive comes alive this weekend as the 14th annual El Grito de la Independencia Fiesta takes over five of its blocks.

The event celebrates Sept. 16, 1810, when Father Miguel Hidalgo sounded “El Grito” de la Independencia, a call for Mexican independence and sovereignty. Similar revolutions eventually broke out across Latin America.

The event features song, dance, exhibits and delicious, authentic food. Full production stages will feature continuous musical entertainment, and family-friendly exhibits, including a low-rider bike exhibition will keep the kids from getting too antsy.
