Windows Server 2012 DC の仮想化、VMware でもOKに

Windows Server 2012 の Active Directory ドメインサービスは、USN ロールバックの回避 (スナップショット適用時のセーフガード) やドメインコントローラー (DC) のクローン展開など、仮想化対応が強化されていますが、これらの機能を利用するには、生成 ID (msDS-GenerationID) に対応したハイパーバイザーが必要です。Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V は生成IDに対応していますが、Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Hyper-V 以前は対応していません。拙著﹃Windows Server 2012 テクノロジ入門﹄では、118～123ページのところに関連します。
他社ハイパーバイザーの対応状況は拙著には書いていませんが、VMware vSphere 5.0 Update 2 と 5.1 (ESXi 5.0 Update 2 以降) は生成IDに対応していることが VMware さんのブログで明らかになりました。 Windows Server 2012 VM-Generation ID Support in vSphere [URL] http://blogs.vmware.com/apps/2013/01/windows-server-2012-vm-generation-id-support-in-vsphere.html VM-Generation ID functionality requires the hypervisor vendor to create the virtual machine identifier and expose it to the guest. VMware has provided this functionality in the following releases of vSphere:
