Alice in Translation
Welcome! This site is home to the Alice in Translation project, which seeks to
analyze the linguistic devices used when translating Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland into Japanese. In
particular, the project focuses on the translations of play-on-words and of songs
and poems. One can find the texts, the text analysis, and a more detailed background
of the project by clicking through the menu bar, or on the pictures below.
This project was created by Emily Byron and Dana Kaufhold as part of the
Computational Methods in the Humanities course offered at the University of
Pittsburgh.
