...I saw this request, and I see you've handled previous music illustrations for the en:Fach article, so I thought I'd drop a note. (PS: Probably best to reach me, if you need to, at ENWIKI.) Cheers, --Joe Decker (talk) 05:14, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Wikimedians,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.
To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons
Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Re File:Circuit Aintree.svg (Venue Plan) The plan of Aintree Motor Racing Circuit contains several inaccuracies that, thanks to its widespread use, are being perpetuated elsewhere.
The corner labelled "Anchor Bend", should say "Anchor Crossing". The section of track between points 2 & 3 needs to be labelled "Sefton Straight". With regard to the motor racing circuit, there is no such term as "Canal Curve", (in horse racing events it is actually called Canal Turn). The whole of the corner around point 6 is called "Bechers Bend", so the label "Bechers Bend" needs to replace the label "Canal Curve" The straight that is labelled as "Sefton Straight (Railways Straight)" needs re-labelling as "Railway Straight" (with no s in Railway).
Otherwise the plan is fine. My knowledge of the venue is that I have been connected with motorsport at Aintree for over 30 years and I currently organise all the car based motorsport that takes place there.
If you visit http://f1pulse.com/circuits/Aintree/3E/circuits_profile.aspx you will find all points on the circuit are correctly labelled.
I'd be very grateful if you would please correct your rendition of the plan to stop the inaccuracies being repeated elsewhere. Many thanks, John Harden, (Chairman, Liverpool Motor Club)
[edit]Hello, Ch1902
Please see this edit, you see that the very basic maps should be in Public domain, some users have already tagged theirs maps with {{PD-self}}. Could you refuse your copyright to PD-self? Regards, --Rezonansowy (talk) 19:17, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

SVG images with automatically traced elements has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Pay attention to licensing
|
Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose.
If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.
File:Flag of the Province of Liège.svg seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file.

It would have been nice to have been given attribution for all of the Phaistos Disc glyphs since you took them from my website and used my font. Evertype (talk) 18:40, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
