アンソニー・リード︵Anthony Reid、1939年 - ︶は、オーストラリアの歴史家。東南アジア史の研究で知られる。

経歴

ケンブリッジ大学で博士号取得。イェール大学、オークランド大学などで教鞭をとったのち、オーストラリア国立大学で教壇に立ちつつ、著書﹁Southeast Asia in the Age of Commerce 1450-1680﹂において、﹁交易の時代︵Age of Commerce︶﹂という概念を提示した。彼によれば、各地の交易圏が結びつけられ、いわゆる﹁世界の一体化﹂が進んでいく15世紀半ばから17世紀末までにおいて、東南アジア世界が、その広域ネットワークにおける中心的な役割を果たしたという。この著作で高い評価を受け、カリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校の東南アジアセンター教授に就任した。
