Just read project 2025, it's the guide he's following. Including shuttering the department of education.

This is what people deliberately voted for or stayed at home and didn't bother to vote against. Now they are stuck with it and both are unhappy. The latter because this and a whole bunch of other stuff is happening and the former because they thought Trump would only be doing these things to liberals and that they themselves, having voted for Trump, would of course be exempt.

The intersection of people who voted for this and people who are now unhappy is rather small. Trump favorability [statista.com] among Republicans is at 93%.

Yet there are articles every day about people who voted for Trump and have now been fired, or people who voted for him and now have a loved one who is being deported or has been detained on false pretenses. I don't trust your numbers.
bysinij ( 911942 ) writes:
If you want to know what Republicans really think, listening to MSNBC or reading NYT is not a good way to go about it.

I know how Republicans think. But the people who voted for Trump are not Republicans

What a silly argument to make. It reminds me of sports fans who, when a big riot happens immediately after/as a result of a sporting event, claim "Those rioters aren't real sports fans." Oh? Then why were they at the "big game"? Seems to me that they can be both rioters, AND sports fans. I get that you don't want a categorization that you consider yourself a part of to include those assholes, but that's the way it is.
So, the people who voted for Trump aren't Republicans? Then who was it that voted for him t

Not the same at all. It is widely known that Trump's fan base is made up of mostly disillusioned people who are mostly confused about the way things work. It is widely known he had to play games with numbers to squeak out a win. Despite Democrat voters not coming out to the polls, he still didn't win the popular vote and didn't even win with a majority of voters. Trump preys on people who are confused. They aren't really able to think clearly enough to claim any allegiance. They just vote for the pers

And that is the kicker. Actual conservatives have honor and integrity and respect others. These people have none of that.

Not to mention that data comes from only 1,582 respondents.

That poll is four months old.

Just to clue you in. Have you seen the approval polls for Trump vs the democrat party recently?

Or what he said in his last term, or what every Republican President has said since Regan? The Department of Education is redundant. Every function it provides can better be handled by another agency, and the Federal government has no authority over education to begin with.

I bet you can't even name the functions...
and the Federal government has no authority over education to begin with.
... because you clearly don't even know that the Education department doesn't have authority over education in the first place, literally not their function.
I'd say educate yourself, but given you thought the Education department had that job I really don't think you know how.
bysabbede ( 2678435 ) writes:
I don't think it has that role, but that does seem to be the basis of many of the arguments being made in the Department's favor.
And given your expertise, perhaps you would like to list its functions and point out which could not be handled at least as well by another department?
