Attached to: Los Angeles Aims To Ban Single-Use Printer Cartridges
I hope Los Angeles wins, and banning single use printer cartridges goes world wide and printer companies have to compete on quality of printer only so more cash cow on selling overpriced printer ink cartridges, besides a city the size of LA I bet there is a truckload of just printer ink cartrages get buried in the landfill every month

Like on duckduckgo.com or Google.com
And I agree with users I don't want AI software embedded in the browser, it is just more bloated feature creep and browser packages are too big already

Yup, Rebel Alliance sounds like a blackhole money pit that money goes to disappear, only a secretive insider abscondes with it

RMS is a GNU/FOSS idealist, plus I am sure he understands closed source software is more likely backdoored, whereas FOSS would have backdoors discovered

That suggested lots of software was going to be rewritten in rust by using vibecoding, I almost choked on my coffee when I read that

Attached to: 'Fish Mouth' Filter Removes 99% of Microplastics From Laundry Waste
Better than drinking or eating microplastics, or if the filters can be made afforadable enough to make them disposable and the old filters get recycled or buried in a landfill

That way people can filter tap water for cooking, drinking and bathing and cleaning, and I want one to take camping with me

Haul em up on snow skids by the hundreds, hire workers to fill drums with garbage and load onto the skids fastened with tarp and cargo strap or chains & boomers pull it down with tractors, there is no way around manual labor on things like this

Attached to: AI's Hunger For Memory Chips Could Shrink Smartphone and PC Sales in 2026, IDC Says
Oh boy! New hardware with the same old google owned and controlled androidOS on it, I already have a good but older phone that works fine as a hotspot, so instead of a new phone why not get a blackberry form factor Linux handheld computer (cyberdeck), like that clockwork uConsole, it has a durable metal chassis and the parts inside are easily replaced or upgraded or modified, there are a few others like the Mecha Comet too, so why buy a new smartphone when a cyberdeck would be more suitable for what I want,
