Libraries exist. Used books exist. And most older books worth a damn are still in print.

I do, as a matter of fact, and they love to read.

Kids who don't see their parents reading books won't read books themselves. Parents who don't share what's to love about reading raise kids who don't read. Of course, we'll blame the schools so we don't have to look inwards. But the problem ultimately lies with parents who don't themselves properly value the things they expect schools to instill in their children.

He clearly has a fundamental misunderstanding of what drives the billionaire class driving these things. They care about one thing: being in control. They might be able to provide for everyone, but they absolutely will not. They will provide only to those they can control. The rest of us will starve.

Government doesn't - or didn't, at least - run them. They funded them. If you can't see the difference, I don't know what to tell you.

Dude went from NPR (and no, he doesn't still work there - he resigned in 2024) to Bari fucking Weiss's "Free" Press. He gave up all credibility with that move. He saw an opportunity to get paid to be a grifter, and jumped on it.

It might seem that way, but all of these areas have their own issues with water supply. Just because the water is there doesn't mean you can drink it - For example, there is a ton of pollution in the water of the Mississippi basin. Same with those east coast locations, which are also facing inexorable encroachment from unending suburban development. The health of the water has gotten better thanks to now-gutted environmental laws, but there are powerful people who have no interest in continuing that progress. And that suburban encroachment shows no sign of slowing. Those areas only will have plentiful clean drinking water as long as they protect what they have.

This was the best aurora I've ever seen in my fairly major city, and it wasn't close. It filled the whole sky, from east to west, and more impressively, from north to south. Arcs of bright magenta across a green and violet sky, with Saturn watching on from the other side.
It was really awe inspiring, and seeing gleeful people enjoying across the country, across political divides and fandoms, seeing this immense display of out own beautiful insignificance ... it's been a long time since I've seen that kind of togetherness in this country.
Sorry, my southern compatriots. This is what us northerners get to make up for January.

Healthy meals aren't low in fat. They have a reasonable amount of fat, because fat is a necessary nutrient. One of the problems you run into is that people will make up for that missing fat, usually with either more salt (which is bad for your heart) or with more carbohydrates, which leads to more weight gain and metabolic disease. While it's true that a high fat diet isn't good for you, unless you have specific dietary needs due to a medical condition, a low fat diet isn't terribly good for you, either. Balance and moderation are key.

I don't know about you, but I eat a lot healthier when I'm the one doing the food prep, which is far more likely if I am not wasting 15 hours a week commuting.

Most of the people I know who voted for him had a few simple reasons in mind: the economy, immigration, and national security.
You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.
