Microsoft's culture problem has only gotten worse. There's an uncanny desperation in their behavior that turns people off and they don't know how to stop.

Donald J. Trump isn't a complete idiot. He successfully ran The Apprentice. The man is turning real life into an absurd reality TV production-- a show the world cannot ignore. This altered photo is red meat for his crude, gullible audience who feel zero shame in acting on their authoritarian tendencies.

Regular Monitors don't have HDCP support without being a smartTV.
These days I would be surprised if any standard monitor lacks HDCP support over HDMI and DisplayPort. It's in most specs I see and I don't buy smart monitors.

And organizational psychology tells us that narcissism, not competence, is often the strongest predictor of who emerges as a leader in unstructured groups. Groups led by a narcissist do not perform better-- they just think they do. This happens all the time in business, government, and politics. Simply put, HORRIBLE judges of character cannot distinguish narcissism from confidence nor Machiavellianism from principled, ethical leadership. So good news if you're a malignant narcissist and you want to be president of the United States-- just turn that shit up to 11.

Attached to: Microsoft Executives Discuss How AI Will Change Windows, Programming -- and Society
Windows Pro Classic: latest kernel and security enhancements but removes the Windows 8 - 11 inspired UI changes. More importantly, it has none of the icky marketing desperation found in today's Windows. Target demographic: anyone with an ounce of self-respect.
Windows AI: an evolution of Windows 11 with all of the agentic clippy-on-crack baked-in, start menu advertisements, and 10 notifications/day about a non-essential Microsoft features/products. Target demographic: masochists.

They do it to meet quotas to the manufacturer, so they get more car allocations the following year, and/or more allocations for exclusive models which can be sold over MSRP, or dealer requires the customer to buy a few "regular" cars before being given a chance to buy the exclusive one.
Yeah, and that's how Porsche is pissing off its brand loyalists. They think they're Ferrari. Which, btw, I will never understand how very wealthy people can have so little self-respect to be treated this way.

I might have a huge cultural bias here, but if you're idea of politeness consists of lying to people, and then expecting them to argue with you, then your culture sucks. Of course, I am one of those idiots that takes everything literally, and I believe in being blunt about everything as well. How do you train logic to deal with something illogical? (Remember the one question Spock couldn't answer: "How do you feel?" I was rolling on the floor laughing at that, the best line ever in any Star Trek movie. Then I looked around the theater... and nobody else thought it was funny.)
I'll wager you're neither a bigot nor an idiot. It's called the autism spectrum.

We're not there yet, but being told to go into a trade may become the new "learn to code". In the meantime, private equity is buying up local companies that deal in skilled trades (plumbing, HVAC, electrical), consolidating them under one roof, which will result in limited competition and drive down wages.

Never seen it myself, but I have many interests and have been following the same 100 channels for years. But, I can see this becoming a problem. LLMs are very attractive for no-talent hacks who only care about making a buck.

The U.S. protected top national security secrets a bit differently back in the day. I suspect they initially fooled Mr. Lazar, but he wised-up somewhere along the way and has been milking this thing for all its worth.

Should the ultra wealthy become concerned about their security teams, the rest of us will have had bigger problems long before that. The case for building bunkers is the same as during the Cold War-- to buy time and hope for the best. It's the worst-case scenario for them and everyone else.
The most powerful people in the world see themselves as utterly incapable of actually creating a future in which everything's gonna be OK.
Our species has buggy features; we tend to promote and be led by those who score high in opportunistic sociopathic traits.

The Rich will become quite edible.
I dunno. You might be able to eat some of them, but not the ones you really want. Today's ultra wealthy have security/intel teams comprised of former SEALs, Delta operators, Secret Service, etc, and can move anywhere/anytime in the world they want (along with their wealth). They have eyes/ears everywhere and are pretty much untouchable.

Attached to: GM Says New Battery Chemistry Will Enable 400-Mile Range EVs
I don't know what their idea is why "enabling up to 400 miles of range" is something that has yet to be done. There are multiple vehicles being sold with > 400 mile range, Tesla Model S for one (410 mile EPA). It is all a question of how big of a battery do you want to install.
I think they should've worded it as "LMR can deliver ~30% more range and at lower cost." Which is great and all, but I was kinda hoping for more of a breakthrough by then.
