Attached to: Workday CEO Calls Narrative That AI is Killing Software 'Overblown'
Is he willing to hire the over 55 and under 30 software engineers who can't find a job to save their lives?

I think it's a bubble. And in the case of Workday's shitty ATS that can't even read a resume and requires you to *completely retype your resume into a web form* I think their AI is a failure.

Most brilliant response ever, especially since I never saw that recap of Majority Rule

Will it also feature Like and Dislike keys to inform viewers of whether what they are watching is worth watching?

When was this? AI seems to have contributed greatly to the enshitification of LinkedIn.

After more than a year of paying for it, I canceled Linked In Premium last September in disgust. The opportunities it was bringing me were 95% scams 5% real.

RTFM: "'Foreign Tech Workers Are Avoiding Travel To the US'"
I would also hope that tourists avoid the United States. Tourism is an enshitification of a culture.

Your use of the term unwelcome in this case suggests differently. You suggest that immigrants *should* be welcomed and coddled, when in reality, they're only allowed in to lower wages.

Good. You're finally getting the picture that American crony Capitalism sucks rocks and considers immigrants to be barely better than slaves.

With millions of citizen tech workers laid off in the last 3 years, fewer foreign workers is only good news.
PLEASE avoid the United States. We're going through an existential cultural identity crisis right now, and don't need your third world kleptocracies, we have enough kleptocracy here.

Yep, this is the problem. DEI hires (be they conservative or liberal DEI, doesn't matter, when you are selecting people based on appearances instead of skills is my definition) won't know how to do this properly.

If you think being a CS RCG is bad, try being a 55 year old coder who spent the last 30 years honing the craft, only to be laid off into a market where those skills are just no longer needed at all.

They also didn't start delving into DEI madness in 2010...neglecting the engineering to chase the "diversity" ghost

Yep, I had writeups from those flame wars. They *REALLY* did not want it discussed. Governors Brown and Kotek continued the pay-to-play system, which is what lost Oregon the Ohio CHIPs foundry campus (before they realized that Biden wasn't going to pay out CHIPs act at all).

●Reluctantly I gave up Marxism for entrepreneurial Capitalism, then when that failed government work, then when that failed I got back into the rat race of contracting. In the last 5 years, I accepted a permanent position with a Fortune 500 corporation, which I find more stable than any of the rest, probably because crony capitalism is designed for it. I prefer distributism, and subsidiarity; but recently even my last Marxist Hero, Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Germany, came out in favor of promoting sexual immorality to increase his diocese funds from Germany's Church Tax. These days I'm a corporate stooge at a big Fortune 500 company that is slightly still uneasy about social media, though the other day I got an invitation to be an "influencer" on linked in for no more pay.
UPDATE: Laid off from Fortune 500 company, and apparently 54 is "too old to be useful".
