Dumb comment.
Electric trains are far better, removing pollution from urban centres, similar to London ULEZ.

Iâ(TM)m aware of this. We have thousands of Linux workstations running (mostly) RHEL 9 Rocky, both as dedicated developer and artist machines, and in site farms for distribute compute.
What I meant was, it still isnâ(TM)t Year Of Linux On The Desktop because only some tiny percentage of machines in the world with local users are running Linux.

Oh i missed that. I assumed we were talking about modern wind turbines in wind farms. Those are the ones Trump hates around his golf courses, or around the entire United States for that matter.

"Large language models" are "artificial intelligence" in much the same way that "Linux" is "on the desktop".

It is also partly due to the wind farms near his golf course in Scotland. He totally got his knickers in a twist about them, and now sets US energy policy based on his mood.

Every measurement in the article has been converted from metric to noddy units, and spurious significant figures have been added.
373 mi = 600 km
326 mi = 525 km
248 mi = 400 km
94.5 in = 2.4 m

By comparison, Unicode mojibake on this Soviet-era bulletin board of a website is visible even at 1000 Hz.

When the eye follows a fast, high-contrast object â" such as a mouse pointer or a tracer round in a video game â" the displayâ(TM)s frame rate causes the object to appear as a series of successive images. This occurs because the eye smoothly tracks the targetâ(TM)s average position, while the target itself jumps discretely from one frame to the next. The effect remains visible even at 120 Hz or higher, and under certain conditions can persist beyond 200 Hz.

I forgot version control for staging and commits, merging and conflict resolution, branch management, editor blame annotation, pull/merge request reviews etc. With the items I mentioned a lot of development can be done entirely within VSCode, albeit with the right plug-ins installed. I still hate it though!

I personally hate it, but VSCode allows editing, building, running, debugging, testing, project configuration for platforms and build targets, code browsing, language syntax highlighting outlines with live symbols, editor indications of warnings and errors for compiler errors, style guidelines for lint or name standards, etc etc. I think this covers a lot of what people mean when they say Integrated Development Environment. Personally I use Clion because features are higher quality and a lot less faffimg around with plug-ins, but I would still classify as an IDE.

Good to know. That would have been great thing to say in the original post. Because saying “it has lots of kids and a big budget” leaves the per student budget unknown.
