New games from big studios are kinda shitty. There are a few standout franchises that stand out and push the whole medium forward, but even those are starting lose their luster.
Gaming is also competing with itself in a really big way. Yesterday I saw Rockstars "Manhunt" on sale on steam for like 3$
I almost scooped it up, but remembered I have the actual game and can just emulate the system and run game on a PC with less hassle than dealing with modern launchers and bullshittery.
There's decades of amazing games out there, and a LOT of them can be had for very small amounts of money. Every time a studio puts out a real banger it's going to spend decades trying replace it as soon as it's a success. This is why we're seeing so many HD remakes and remasters. If you cant beat your old IP, sell it again!

That's not true. A lot of us are still running the same hobby bullshit out of the same little closet on the same rickety consumer hardware that we did in the 90s. I know I've been hosting services online for over a decade, and there's never been a profit motive for me. It's fun, and in the beginning that was enough.
It's more than that now. Every single personal site on the internet is a fly in big techs beer. Every hobby service out there is endless ad impressions denied. A lot of young people are looking for something they can do to take a stand against the monolithic capitalism that constantly put itself between us and what we're trying to do, and taking back technology is the answer. META can't fuck with your local political races if they're broke. Close your account and host your own site instead. Every hobby site is an act of defiance in the face of the massive corporations insisting they're the only option.
Every time a teenagers personal webserver answers it's first public request the whole world leans just a tiny bit back towards what we were all told the internet was in the 90s. Make a difference. Spin up a website. Host a service.... Take back control.
The old internet is still there- happily routing around failures, with or without you.

Back in my day we stood in the kitchen and called moviephone. Now you kids cant even be bothered to go to type "showtimes" into your gameboys.

Sure champ. The reason fast food joints are seeing a drop in revenue as they 2-3x their prices is.... the drugs people are on.

Title V of the Communications Act of 1934 provides the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with the statutory authority to enforce its regulations through monetary penalties, criminal sanctions, and asset seizures.
Its as if our entire government has forgotten how our entire government is supposed to work.
If you don't like the law, you amend the law, or pass a new one. The current system of "Everybody with enough money appeal to the supreme court for exceptions" just erodes the law until only a couple of companies own everyth- Oh. I see. NM.

Attached to: America Is Falling Out of Love With Pizza
On what planet does a whole pizza compete with "5 dollar fast food deals"?
The problem is like everything else, some clowns are trying to sell pizza off as a swanky meal when we all know and expect pizza to be an affordable family splurge.
Next you're going to tell me raman is goin out of style because people stopped buying $20 bowls of noodles and the bougie raman outfit next to the jewelry store is going out of business.
$30 worth of pizza delivered used to feed the family.
Now I cant order a pizza for less that 50 bucks and what get delivered is a sad shitty pie and the box demands I give over even more money to your driver because the 8-10$ delivery fee I just paid doesn't actually cover the delivery.
We live in a world where everything is online. I can price out every single delivery option available in 5 minutes, and they're all competing with what I've already got in the fridge. You want to sell me pizza? Stop pretending your a swanky upscale bistro and sell me and my family a still hot slab with proper the amount of cheese and toppings for an affordable price.
I can throw together cheese burgers for 5 in 10 minutes for around 25 bucks- I'll pay a little more to not get off my ass, but not if i means cold pizza an hour from now for $65.

Wow. No. What profound religious arrogance. Your messiah would be very disappointed.
You don't get to claim American culture is Christian by default. Christians have been pulling that same trick on every culture around the world since the beginning.

In a normal world full of people who could still think critically this kind of story would end a respectable new outlet, especially one such as the Wall Street Journal, whos readership is supposedly a bunch of rich business owners and free market advocates that actually understand how business works.
Gross.

Forasmuch as we're prone to the use of univerbations, contractions, and the occasional metaphor- the utility of our linguistic vehicles and our love of philology is sure to atrophy for our Bonafede learned practitioners, as well as our amateurs and abecedarians. We all find ourselves using shorter and shorter-handed prose in our professional and personal correspondences as a matter of course. Time is money after all. We rarely consider what society as a whole gives up in our linguistic evolutions and transformations in the interest of expediency and efficient communications until it's gone.
This holiday season, many of us will once again marvel at our own sloppiness in script when confronted with the signatures and holiday well wishes of the elders in our lives that have for whatever reason chosen not to employ the automated spellcheckers and grammatical tools most of us have come to rely on. :)

It's not about who's exposed. It's about who's trying to hide it, you goddamn well know it.
History is going to count the times the GOP refused sunlight on this issue and judge accordingly, and all of the different GOP excuses disintegrate without the conservative propaganda machine spewing bullshit 24/7. 25 years form now- we're going to look at the pictures of this clown-shoe foolishness like hanging dear leaders mugshots from federal buildings and accepting made up awards and on and on its going to go... taken as a whole- the entire conservative party is implicated. We're going to look back in shame- and all of the supporters are going to hide the swag and try not to talk about it.
We'll do our best to move forward as a country- but I don't think the people are going to accept no consequences in the interest of national healing this time. This time- heads are going to have to roll to move forward- GOP spent what national grace it had on Jan 6th. Everything since has just been insult on injury.
