Nah, it's a pain because they'll have a shower in every room, often added in a weird way on an elevated platform. The plumbing often isn't great quality. Ripping that stuff out is expensive. You can get mould issues if you keep it. There are all sorts of practical issues with trying to repurpose a former brothel.

You didn't answer the question. So KDE and GNOME suck. What are these tons of desktop environment that don't suck, and aren't just GNOME/KDE forks, or more GTK/GObject crap that may as be GNOME anyway?
People are really good at saying things suck, but terrible at actually giving viable alternatives.

What a stupid, useless, insulting response, not that I'd expect better from you.
●A window manager is not a desktop environment.
●The vast majority of those haven't been updated in over half a decade, if not longer. They're dead projects
●Of the ones that are still under development, quite a few are associated with GNOME, KDE, and the projects I listed.

Can you name some of those "tons of desktop environments" that aren't niche products that you need to be a masochist to use, and aren't just forks of GNOME? MATE is a GNOME 2 fork. Cinnamon is a GNOME 3 fork. Xfce and Budgie are GTK-based, which means GObject and the rest of that bullshit, so it may as well be GNOME. LXDE is based on GTK2, but confusingly has forks based on GTK3 and Qt, so it's a mess of incompatible options.

He'll never learn. He's always confidently wrong. Dunning-Kruger in action. And as he's a German (although he's claimed he now lives in Thailand, so maybe a sexpat), he's a good reminder that not only Americans or English speakers have these tendencies.

Rickover was brilliant and had integrity. He's the sole reason the US Navy has a relatively good record with nuclear power. Now that he's dead, everything's going to go downhill.

Yes, but look at the comment I replied to:
"The amounts available are limited and the supply chain has been dominated by Russia"
Somehow I doubt the russians are supplying fuel for the SMRs in Nato nuclear submarines.
They're the ones saying that naval reactors need the same fuel as these proposed SMRs. I was pointing out that naval reactors use different fuel.

Naval reactors run on HEU because they need to be compact, have high power density, and rapidly change power level because they're being used for propulsion, and that's the most practical way to meet the requirements. We've spent decades trying to phase out use of HEU in any reactors where it isn't absolutely necessary to meet requirements (e.g. adapting research reactors to use LEU or MOx fuel, and shutting down older power reactors that used HEU). There's no way the proposed commercial SMRs will be allowed to use HEU. They won't be using the same fuel as naval reactors at all.

My sister and her husband, in a first world country with a pretty good electrical grid, are on pure solar electricity without a grid connection. About the only compromise they've had to make is that they don't have an oven. They have an electric stove, fridge, washing machine, lights, and all the other appliances you'd expect. It seems to work fine for them. Household solar has come a long way since the '90s where you were stuck with deep cycle lead acid batteries and 12V DC throughout the house, and you had to minimise power consumption if you were going to have a few cloudy days.

You can get them in Australia, although they're by no means common. But I wouldn't immediately associate Toto with heated toilet seats. Their core business is toilets and urinals in general. INAX is their biggest competitor in Japan.

I realise throwing around words like "communism" and "socialism" is a reliable way to get people in the USA to vote against their own interests, but it doesn't work on the rest of the world.

Autodesk is more than CAD. 3DS Max is pretty much the industry standard for 3D modelling in video games. They also sell the character modelling/animation suite Maya since they acquired Alias/Wavefront years ago. Their software is used extensively for special effects in feature films, too. I wouldn't be surprised of 3D modelling and rendering is a bigger business for them than CAD.
