i had to look it up, it was earlier than I thought, I was thinking late 60's. But then again, kennedy was killed earlier than i thought too. I was born in 76...

Good Response, nice to meet you neighbor!
And being oracle, I don't think I'd want to work there if they put it right in columbia. But I WOULD be thankful that it would drive up competition and increase IT salaries along with it. And drive up my house value as well. I'm not an oracle hater, but I'm not interested in working in a highly competitive environment any longer. I hear horror stories about amazon and google dumping their bottom 10% each year. No thank you! I do good work, but I don't want to live in constant fear or constantly having to prove myself every year.

- Which is why I'm in Columbia. I don't go downtown to save my life.
- again, many areas outside of town are still affordable (Murfreesboro is too damn busy now)
- yup, but believe it or not, there are still affordable areas in williamson County (I was in nolensville before columbia)
- Mass transit, yeah I can see your point of view is living IN Nashville. I'll try to quit harping on living outside of town.
- That tunnel will only be for people who want to stay drunk between the airport and downtown, not for anyone local.
- Meh, they can be high, but it's not impossible to find some towns that are safe, clean and cheap.
Roads...
Anyway, I don't really agree with anything you say. I think the solution for most is find one of the areas within an hour driving distance. The problem is oracle made that pretty hard with where they put it. Don't put it right smack downtown where it's hard to get to. Not sure if that side of the river is any easier or not. But it's further away from most of the population. The growth is all East and South of nashville. They put it somewhere that would be great for the opposite.
On the other hand, I don't want any of you people moving here. Stay away. Don't add to my traffic and housing prices. This place sucks!

Are you talking about the Oak Ridge labs? Or the ones in nearby huntsville? Or the datacenters going in Memphis? There's a LOT going on here now.

No kidding. I'm in Columbia, basically commuting distance to Nashville. And while I love this area, I would NOT drive to where they've put that place. It's a traffic nightmare, they're on the wrong side of the river, making traffic worse. And, oh yeah, it's oracle. I'm already at a Mega corp, but it's not a super competitive one. Count my out of anything like Oracle, MS, Google, Apple, Amazon...

TN does it already. They've gone as far as saying NO electronic devices. So now I'd get hit for using my HAM radio while driving.

Good and bad here and I can't decide which side I'm on. When apple did this they SEVERELY reduced the theft of iphones. And while no one wants their phone stolen in any way, it's the muggings in large cities that really went way down. People saw those white iphones cords going into people's pocket and they new an expensive, desirable and easy to sell phone was at the end of it. I've never been mugged, nor have had a family member, but the idea of someone stopping my wife or kid on the street demanding their phone terrifies me.
On the other hand, I work in corporate IT. I've seen the stack and stacks of iphones and ipads that have been locked by the user and we can't reset them. For whatever reason our predecessor didn't lock down icloud with the MDM, so the users logged into icloud. We told them when they quit they had to remove it, but many didn't know how and they just shipped us their locked phone. Holding their last paycheck is illegal, so we ended up with stacks of expensive, shiny and useless hardware. I even brought about 5 ipads home because I was going to see what sort of 'hacking tools' I could use to unlock them. Haven't gotten around to trying yet.

Like I said, I did it on the current version, it it didn't do this. This is new bug because they're adding new features to siri. This has not been around since 2011.

I'm not really very pro-Siri for just about anything.
But I just tested both prompts on my 16pro and got "It's friday march 21, 2025". That is a perfectly acceptable answer. A little more than I was requesting, but it's certainly not wrong.
But yall are running beta software. Obviously there's a bug. That's why it's beta software. Now if this still happens after it's released software, THEN you have a story. But now you're just trying to get famous.

I don't get it either. Here's NASA's on photo from 1993 that shows the exact same thing that these others are showing. A lot grainier and in black and white, but 1993.
https://acoustics.org/2apaa-th...
Is NASA just trying to keep their budget by saying they found something brand new? The new photos look like a different plane, higher res and a color filter.

I'm curious why you aren't mentioning SpaceX as one of the choices, because it's the only one of the group I choose if I was FORCED to take a ride. The only non biased reason I thought of was maybe they don't offer commercial options, where the others do. I don't follow them all enough to know.
It's all based on who has a track record. Nothing to do with Elon. I'm going with the one who's put up a ton of flights and got them down safely. All of them? no. But they haven't had anyone die or stuck in space. Not saying that the others have, there's just not been enough successful flights from those guys to make me confident.

The problem with intentional on this one... if you look at 6661, 662, 665, 667, 668... they're all done on the same date. with no gaps. This system is auto numbering them. And with 666 of them done by mid feb that's about 15 per day. He'd have to be watching that submit button like a hawk to get that just right. But no, I don't actually think it's divine... I'd lean more towards he's knows a dba or admin that can renumber his bill after he submitted and just waited for the rest to catch up so it wasn't obvious. even that's a huge stretch.
Even if they were allowed to request a number when they submitted it, that would put it in a different date range than the ones around it, so not that either. Ok, i've talked myself back to "We're on a mission from God"
