Several steps of barrel manufacture are done on a lathe. You are probably thinking of rifling, which is done by forcing a button through the bore.

I have a SE and there is no email or accounts linked to it. This way if it is stolen nobody can get anything. I use the maps feature when I'm driving, text, phone and scan craigslist when I'm on the crapper. You don't need a dumbphone to have restraint.

Longer wavelengths travel a lot easier through haze or clouds so there will be less losses due to dispersion. Also, no energy is 'lost' by using longer wavelengths.
