Attached to: China Lagging in AI Is a 'Fairy Tale,' Mistral CEO Says
The Chinese are spending a lot less than the US; and are getting essentially the same results, if not better.
there is no chinese nvidia; top performing models are not chinese; deepseek was a splash, not a wave; SMIC doesnt compete with TSMC or even lesser foundries.
these are present day results, the sum product of policy/administration/everything, not what-ifs or projections.
if may very well change, but at present, china leading AI is fan fiction.

Among other things, humans don't consume the entire internet to string together a coherent sentence. Humans learn to read usually with a single textbook. The difference in information volume is astounding.
from birth, humans spend their entire lives observing and studying language, oral and written.
even then, many do it poorly.
dont believe you understand the conditions required to successfully test your "single textbook" hypothesis.

She was obstructing justice, then assaulted a federal agent while trying to evade arrest.
So the penalty of obstructing justice is now DEATH? Do you hear yourself?
fairly sure the important part isnt "obstructing justice", it's "assault[ing] a federal agent"... with a car.
cant point to any peer reviewed studies at the moment, but the theory is hitting humans with cars may lead to elevated tension with unforeseen consequences.

Attached to: Many People Who Come Off GLP-1 Drugs Regain Weight Within 2 Years, Review Suggests
My entire family is fat and nearly all eat responsibly. I am more responsible than the overwhelming majority of skinny people on the planet
this is often a primary contributor to obesity: believing your diet is suitable for your height/weight/body type/activity level/metabolism.
american food is a minefield: convenient high calorie, low cost meals everywhere; restaurant dishes (salads included) that're well over 1000 calories before factoring in appetizers/free items/drinks; foods with tons of sugar and salt (even basic bread); food laden with preservatives, artificial ingredients, and other "shortcut" ingredients; etc.
it's not a responsibility issue... many--most--dont thoroughly understand what theyre eating on a regular basis.
many also grossly over-estimate their level of regular physical activity.

Many businesses nowadays rely on Sharepoint [for collaboration].
and while often loathed, it can be very nice to use if you have a custom front end via forms/HTML and 3rd party workflows for automation.
one talented dev is enough for implementation.

"Both sides" is bullshit.
You will never find Biden-era equivalents
you may be drawing from your personal perspective here exclusively; consider another:
- [Biden never ordered] the US military to fire on shipwreck survivors.
instead he let drug boats come in.
- [Biden never pardoned] someone who helped flood the US with cocaine
correct; but the US is still flooded with cocaine (though of course, largely due to demand + relatively lax borders).
- [Biden never pardoned] a hedge-fund manager who fleeced families out of millions.
he instead pardoned his son who made millions selling... questionable things/access.

So you somehow found a way to blame DEI in an instance where it had zero mention? I guess DEI was the talking point on Fox News today.
not op, but in 2011, intel hired musician will.i.am as the "director of creative innovation".
intel had clearly lost their focus.

If you look at cursive writing from like an 1800's census or something, half of it is virtually impossible to read.
this is due to your lack of familiarity with cursive.

I set my HTPC to use a screen resolution of 1920x1080 on the 55" and it looks great.
setting a fixed resolution display (lcd, oled, etc) to a non-native resolution is a crime.

All coffee tastes like ass. I'll never understand how anything that smells that good can taste that bad.
coffee varies tremendously:
from where its grown, to how its grown, to how its roasted, to how it's stored, to how its ground, to how its brewed, etc etc.
and most of the time its done poorly. often very, very poorly.
if it smells good to you, theres a good chance theres a cup out there youll enjoy.
