Attached to: 30,000 More UPS Jobs On the Chopping Block as Amazon Era Ends
I just got off a chat with Amazon this morning about a package I'm waiting for. Amazon shipped it via UPS, it travelled 1,000 miles and got to within 50 miles of my location, and now for some reason is being returned to sender without ever making it to my doorstep. They apologized profusely and are looking into it. I can't help but wonder if it is UPS just being assholes.

It was quickly obvious it would be completely useless. Gemini kept hallucinating the final results of the game (including the final score, along with all the plays that lead up to it) halfway through the third quarter. When I called it out on it, it would apologize profusely, promise to 'sanity check' future results against current live data... and then do the same thing again, over and over again. Which was fine, I understood what was happening, but the thing is that when it would hallucinate the end of the game it would always present the hallucinated results in the completely factual manner. The only real clue it wasn't correct was that the live game on TV was drastically different.

Half the shows I've tried to watch on Apple TV are so dark I have to follow the story in parts through dialog only.

The other thing that drives piracy rather than the obvious financial culprit is the blackouts the leagues enforce. I pay the yearly subscription for Major League Baseball, but even after handing over the cash I'm still forced to pirate games that are blacked out due to where I live or because they've given broadcast rights to various streamers, even though I pay a fixed price for the entire season's games. It's a joke.

I have no real problem with a LLM doing the grunt work, as long as the final result is reviewed by human eyeballs. That always needs to be a link in this chain.
