My 2 -- articles like this seem to be treating Linux as opposition to the Apple/Microsoft duopoly. So in that context, of course Mac OS doesn't count.

"Not enough people know that science 'infers to the best explanation' and doesn't definitively 'prove' anything"
I've had arguments with people who understood that science doesn't "prove" anything and who seemed to sincerely believe that because it doesn't, science is therefore bullshit. If it can't prove anything, it should be ignored! (they contend)

Sure wish the HPV vaccine had been available when I was the appropriate age. It would have saved me months of horrible, horrible chemo and radiation now. And we don't yet know if it was successful!

Can we maybe not AI-ify every damn thing?
Yet another entry on the ever-growing list of reasons I won't use Chrome. I just hope it doesn't infect Chromium-based browsers.

LOL "permission" It will be hard coded in, and darn near impossible to bypass.

Attached to: How Democrats and Republicans Cite Science
Sounds to me like either conservatives can't understand these studies or they are afraid they will find out something they don't like about the world in them. Either way it's a difficult thing to defend, making up your own truth about something that was studied and found to be different.
From what I've seen of the "general populace" online, liberals largely think that science is a method of learning more about the world and ways to improve our lives; conservative largely think scientists are in the pocket of whomever is funding them and will create any sort of result their financial masters desire. So it makes no sense for conservatives to cite scientific studies when they believe all science is bogus.

Given they have no motivation for keeping a ban on the rest of the world in place it seems incredibly unlikely they will.
Well, halting shipments to other countries who want the rare earth metals will help turn those countries against us (as if help were needed). Kind of grade-school strategy but when you've got a toddler in charge you have to meet him at his level

Attached to: CT Scans Projected to Result in 100,000 New Cancers in The US
I'm currently undergoing radiation treatment for head & neck cancer. They did a CT scan on me before treatment started to get a good image of everything. I get 7 weeks of daily (weekdays) radiation, before each of which they do "mini CT" to make sure that I'm positioned properly in the machine. They'll do another at the end of the treatment. That's 37 CT scans in the span of about 2 months.
