2/ Edit: They were (3) 12-year-old French girls. I wish I was making this shit up, because when I heard this in an Epstein documentary, I had to turn it off and go for a walk. There's only so much horror, disgust, confusion, rage, and anger one can tolerate all at the same time.

His business model was kompromat of important people to keep up his proclivities for deflowering 13-yo triplets.
Laws don't apply to important/rich people the way they do to homeless Jimmy sleeping by the side of the 7-Eleven who gets 30 years in prison for half a blunt.

Don't go crazy making things easily repairable and upgradeable using commodity components, releasing schematics, or having repair parts that are of reasonable cost. Gotta stay Apple-y and IBM PS/2-y enough by having proprietary parts and custom ASICs that aren't sold as individual components. Oh, and definitely don't make PCBs more corrosion (moisture/water) and power rail short resistant... the nerve of even a tiny bit of board encapsulation or IPxx mechanical design.
Just keep up the open/green/sustainable/fair trade/FOSS-washing song and dance for investors and tech bloggers.

RAM sommelier: We have this well-rested DDR3 Taiwan varietal of a reserve 2010 vintage. It was a particular good year with floral notes and mellow bitterness. While it's pre-loved, it's fully-performant for 20-year-old technology. It happens to be available today only for premium discount pricing subscription members for a limited time for the very low price of $10/GB/day after the $1000 initiation fee and $50/month maintenance and support deluxe package. We think that ownership is too onerous and too much commitment these days and it's more freeing to constantly pay for everything while owning nothing that can be rug-pulled and bricked in an instant.

When I was at Meta (briefly) and in SV startup land, there were way too many Poettering (and Musk) fanboys. While I grew up in SV, I was gentrified out and renounce asshole VCs, managers, engineers, and broligarchs, and now I'm elsewhere with saner housing prices.
daemontools and runit at least were simple and dependable, could drop-in and stop services on-the-fly, and didn't have a weird-ass broken state where it refused to start because it failed X times before. Oh and GFL shipping systemd syslog to other systems. syslog-ng was even more performant and robust than rsyslog, even though rsyslog was nicer to configure.

Hahaha. You read my mind.
The problem is breakage-ignorant and make-everyone-change-everything people get way too much influence per the value that they deliver mixes with gullible project managers who then foist this half-baked, buggy, incompatible, fragmentation-producing shit onto everyone else. While we could've done better with FHS across NIXes, it would've been better to have Borne script caching infrastructure than take over almost every goddamn thing.
New | different doesn't always deliver enough net value to justify change.
I hope this venture goes for a long time, wastes lots of AI investment money, and dies a Transmeta-like death. (VLIW could've been cool but I think Itanium proved the compilers at the time didn't know how to optimize for it.)

So, a billionaire REIT shareholder who feels they're owed more money... because they deserve more socialism for them and more austerity and predatory capitalism for everyone else.

Exactly. It's rent-seeking entitlement by REITs and billionaires that they're owed more money and more control.
