What is SCALE?
The Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE) is an annual Linux, Open-Source, and Free Software conference held in Los Angeles. Now celebrating its tenth year, this community organized event will be held January 20-22, 2012 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport hotel. SCALE offers over 100 seminars and presentation sessions, and an exhibit hall where non-profit and commercial organizations will demonstrate the latest developments in the open-source and free software realm.
The Southern California Linux Expo is proud to present their second Linux Beginner training class! It's an intensive, one-day training class to be held Saturday, March 3rd, at the LAX Hilton, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Presented by volunteer trainers and presenters, students will come away with the ability to install and maintain a Linux operating system.
Attendees are expected to bring a computer suitable for installing Linux. Laptops are encouraged but desktops are acceptable also.

At SCALE, in spite of having a lot of content for developers and sysadmins, we've always had a soft spot in our collective hearts for the newbie. Sadly, we've not been able to muster a lot of material oriented towards the raw beginner in Linux and Open Source.

We get it. Sometimes there's just too much to see and do at a convention. The exhibitors have a lot to tell you about their products, services or what they are doing in the community. How on Earth do you squeeze all this into a day?
