Apple will soon treat online web tracking the same as a security vulnerability https://thenextweb.com/privacy/2019/08/16/apple-will-soon-treat-online-web-tracking-the-same-as-a-security-
As of r195562, WebKit’s FTL JIT (Faster Than Light Just In Time compiler) now uses a new backend on OS X. The Bare Bones Backend, or B3 for short, replaces LLVM as the low-level optimizer in the FTL JIT. While LLVM is an excellent optimizer, it isn’t specifically designed for the optimization challenges of dynamic languages like JavaScript. We felt that we could get a bigger speed-up if we combine
Ten years ago today we introduced the first version of Web Inspector to the world. That time was the wild west of web development, when your best debugging aid was alert(). While the earliest version of Web Inspector was limited (it didn’t even have a console), it did expose two things that developers didn’t have much insight into — the DOM tree and matching style rules. Web Inspector being open s

WebKit’s FTL JIT (Faster Than Light Just In Time compiler) has switched to a new backend — Bare Bones Backend (B3) replaces LLVM as the low-level optimizer in the FTL JIT. Just a decade ago, JavaScript – the programming language used to drive web page interactions – was thought to be too slow for serious application development. But thanks to continuous optimization efforts, it’s now possible to w
After picking through Safari’s CSS Reference I found -webkit-appearance, which changes the appearance of buttons & controls to resemble a native apple UI. I added this code for comment & search forms to retain the basic style I defined in my CSS: -webkit-appearance:none; CSS Webkit Appearance | Trent Walton 続
On the technical side, code size and complexity remains an ongoing challenge for Blink. Code complexity slows development and leads to bugs. Fortunately, we’ve been able to aggr
When it comes to performance, JavaScript generally gets the headlines. But if you look carefully, web pages are not all JavaScript, the performance of all the other parts also has a dramatic impact on the user experience. Observing only JavaScript gives a single point of view over the complex mosaic that is web performance. Making CSS faster and more scalable is an area of research in the WebKit p

Life with Web Browser Engine (Gecko, WebKit and etc), Mobile and etc. Hi WebKittens, I’d like to propose removing the Pointer Lock API code from WebKit. The code hasn’t been touched for 12 months, and AFAICT no ports are building with ENABLE(POINTER_LOCK). Is anyone currently building (and shipping / planning to ship) this API? Other thoughts? -Kl
