Wiki Loves Africa is an annual contest where anyone across Africa can contribute media that relates to that year's theme to Wikimedia Commons) for use on Wikipedia and other project websites of the Wikimedia Foundation. Wiki Loves Africa encourages participants to contribute media (photographs, video, and audio) that illustrate the specific theme for that year. Each year the theme changes. Each year's theme is chosen by the community to be universal, visually-rich, and culturally-specific topics (for example, markets, rites of passage, festivals, public art, cuisine, natural history, urbanity, daily life, notable persons, etc).
This year, Nigerian Commons Photographers User Group is coordinating a photowalking and a contest locally for the first time, and you are encouraged to submit any photos of Home and Habitats in Nigeria between 15th February and 14th March 2022. By submitting your photos to the competition, you share homes and habitats in Nigeria with the rest of the world to enjoy through the internet.
Wiki Loves Africa 2022 is a photo contest that encourages entries that display visuals of "Africa" under the theme Home and Habitat. Images must be licensed under free licenses (read about licences here). Get your camera, take photos of your Africa. Upload your entries from February 15 to April 15 on Wikimedia Commons. There are prizes to be won for winning quality photographs. |
