Astore (Urdu: استور) is the main city of Astore DistrictinGilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The city is situated at an altitude of 2,546 metres (8,353 ft).[1]

The major Astore–Burzul Road, which linked Gilgit (inPakistani-administered Kashmir) to Srinagar (inIndian-administered Kashmir) was indefinitely closed in 1978 following the development of the China–Pakistan Karakoram Highway.[2]
