Burari is famous for the Burari deaths that occurred in 2018. It was an event where 11 people of a family committed mass suicide for alleged cultist reasons.[3]

In 2011, Burari had a population of 146,190, with 78,103 males and 68,086 females. It grew by 110.9% from 2001, when it had a population of 69,333. The average literacy rate of Burari is 88.98%, with male literacy at 94.17 and female literacy at 83.05 percent. The ratio between males and females is 872 females per 1000 males. The Biggest Religion in Burari is Hinduism, with 93.3% of people being Hindu. The second most is Islam, but with only about 4%.[5]
