Kagney Linn Karter (March 28, 1987 – February 15, 2024) was an American pornographic film actress and singer. After becoming an exotic dancer, she entered the pornography industry in 2008.

    Karter was born in Harris County, Texas, in 1987, and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Ridgway, Pennsylvania.[2]

    Career

    Karter began erotic dancing while in Missouri and was named the state's Déjà Vu Showgirl of the Year in 2007.[3]

    She later moved to California to pursue an acting and singing career. Karter fell out with her manager when he discovered she was also working as an exotic dancer.[2] While continuing to dance, she eventually moved into modeling and, after signing with the agency LA Direct Models, posed for shoots with erotic photographer Holly Randall.[2]

    Karter entered the adult film industry in September 2008.[4] Her first scene was with Johnny Sins for Naughty America.[2] In 2009, she was chosen as the Penthouse Pet of the Month for June,[2] and appeared on the covers of Hustler in April and Adult Video News, also in June.[2][4][5] Karter was also featured on the cover of Holly Randall's photo book Erotic Dream Girls published in October 2009.[6] In January 2010, she signed an exclusive performing contract with the production company Zero Tolerance Entertainment.[7]

    In 2012, Karter took part in Louis Theroux's Twilight of the Porn Stars, a BBC documentary film about the porn industry, its struggle to compete with free internet alternatives, and the lives of famous porn stars.[8]

    Karter (under the name Kagney Necessary) released an extended play (EP) recording entitled The Crossover in 2018.[9] In 2022, Karter released her debut studio album, titled The Take Over.[10][third-party source needed]

    Death

    Karter committed suicideinCuyahoga County, Ohio, on February 15, 2024. She was 36 years old at the time of her death.[11][12]
