The article about the battle for Chapultepec states that Mexico City was defended by "the impreganble fortress of Chapultepec". In fact Chapultepec Castle is hardly a fortress and at the time of the war it served as the Military College so most of the defenders inside were young cadets. The structure of the castle itself was not designed for battle but as a residence. I will look further into this.

Comment Per Wikipedia:Article titles and "Consistency". Many battles] of the Mexican–American War use "of". But this could be an exception to the rule because it seems this battle is special in that it was a battle to win over Mexico City and not a battle in Mexico City.[2] and this is an combination of other battles (see article) not a single "battle". For example Battle of Molino del Rey seems to be a specific part of the battle "for" Mexico City. OkayKenji (talk) 21:15, 11 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Capitalisation of "battle" in "battle for Mexico City"
Latest comment: 1 year ago2 comments2 people in discussion
The initial letter of the title is only capitalised in running text if it would normally be capitalised. Per MOS:CAPS: Wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization. In English, capitalization is primarily needed for proper names, acronyms, and for the first letter of a sentence. Wikipedia relies on sources to determine what is conventionally capitalized; only words and phrases that are consistently capitalized in a substantial majority of independent, reliable sources are capitalized in Wikipedia. Per MOS:CAPS, the burden is to show that capitalisation is necessary in accordance with the criteria of MOS:CAPS. Looking sources here and here, it appears to fall well short of the high threshold set by MOS:CAPS. Cinderella157 (talk) 01:43, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's not a "high threshhold". It's just iteration of WP:COMMON and avoidance of WP:FRINGE.
If there was a battle around Mexico City, that's how it should be treated. If there was a Battle of Mexico City (as the article's existence seems to heavily imply) it should be capitalized properly and consistently. If your sources show that this battle has a different name, that's fine but that's something to discuss in a move request, not a complaint about (mis)capitalization. — LlywelynII06:52, 5 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

currently links here but actually refers (per the infobox) to a larger section of the war including the mess around Veracruz. It should be shunted to sth else or the infobox should be corrected. — LlywelynII06:52, 5 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
