BAFTA Award base

edit

The Wikipedia text says 'Today's BAFTA award – including the bronze mask and marble base ....'

Unfortunately the word 'marble' is incorrect. Marble is metamorphosed limestone (CaCO3) - the base shows clear outlines of crystals of feldspar, not calcium carbonate. The base is made of an igneous Norwegian rock from Larvik & hence called 'larvikite'. It takes a good polish & the crystals have a 'shimmer' effect.

Many kitchen worktop suppliers & monumental masons make the same mistake - polished rocks tend to be marble or granite. In this case neither is correct. SW Geologist (talk) 18:44, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Plastic trophy?

edit

The Rising Star trophy for 2015 appears to be glass or plastic? 2.26.202.55 (talk) 14:09, 9 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
