In line with WP:SOAP I have edited the first paragraph to remove a reference to a specific research group.Azo bob 10:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re-writing of the background section

edit

In the background information, there is too much about buckminsterfullerene, which is mainly irrelevant, and not enough about the discovery by Sumio Iijimaofnanotubes. I propose that this section is completely re-written to shift the emphasis towards nanotubes. I wanted to gauge opinion before attempting this.Azo bob 10:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is no reason to discuss Iijima here. Not that he isn't important to nanotubes, but that he isn't relevant in an efficient description of Buckypaper. The only reason BuckminsterFullerne is mentioned is to understand the etymology of the term 'Buckpaper', and frankly in its current form it is kind of confusing to read. This section probably should be rewritten (or removed entirely). The only background really needed is a link to carbon nanotubes, from there you can figure out the etymology. -Hellkyte —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.7.123.51 (talk) 19:46, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

"conducts electricity like silicon or copper"

edit

um, which? These do not have the same conductivity, copper is a conductor, silicon is a semiconductor. I know this is a citation from an article, but it isn't logical. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.65.98 (talk) 16:14, 18 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Likewise for Steel or Brass on thermal conductivity, Brass is about 4x that of steel. What is worse is below in the application section it implies that the thermal conductivity is extraordinary which neither steel or brass are. -- nicklinn (talk / contribs)  02:15, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
