In this article, hypopta agavis is used as one of the synonyms of comadia redtenbacheri (hypopta agavis redirects to this article, and the term hypopta agavis is used in the description of the only photo that is currently in the article). However, Amy Stewart in The Drunken Botanist claims that these are actually two different species that are often confounded with each other[1]. I tried doing a bit of search to clarify, and I did come across some things that suggest there's some confusion between hypopta and comadia (e.g., Schoolr writes "Comadia has been described for a series of species which had formerly been included under Hypopta" [2]), but I found no sources that explicitly identify hypopta agavis with comadia redtenbacheri.
Is there an expert on the matter who can clarify the confusion and provide relevant references/links?
