I deleted this:
In the first, & obvious, case, it was a TV series, not real life, & viewers couldn't be expected to know, or care, the calls were unchanged; more important, the writers obviously didn't. (Rabb was Batman 1 in several episodes of JAG, probably for the same reasons.) Trivia? More like "who cares?". Show the significance or leave it out. Or mention M*A*S*H went them one better, lasting three times longer than the Korean War. Trekphiler 09:23, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
The show was filmed in the same area as M*A*S*H, so you see the same hills in the background as the opening titles with helicopters. You also see Saunders and Kirby and company shoot from behind eucalyptus trees, which were introduced to California from Australia in the 19th Century but were quite unknown in France... and so on.121.44.19.209 (talk) 08:51, 11 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
On a more substantive note, I've heard it got cancelled, despite hi (or adequate) ratings, due to the unpopularity of Vietnam. Can anybody confirm? Trekphiler 06:14, 19 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Contrary to the claim that Hanley, Saunders and their men "never run out of ammo," in one episode they did run out of ammo, surrendered to the Germans, and were put in a POW transit camp. They escaped, of course, but they were captured because they ran out of ammo. Someone who knows more about the show than I do will be able to add the name of the episode where this happened. 66.162.249.170 (talk) 22:45, 8 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Combat is a great show. I can't believe they left Combat out all the time and it was a #1 show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.189.130.147 (talk) 19:12, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure if this is official or not but it seems that the Theme Song for Combat! had an unused set of lyrics titled "These are the men of the infantry..." which were written by someone named Leonard Adelson.

Hmmmm. Sounds an awful lot like the melody of Lili Marleen to me. Sca (talk) 19:25, 2 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
For the record (in light of a recent edit summary comment), both Morrow and Jason were the top-billed stars of the show. They were contractually granted top billing for alternate episodes, each taking second billing for every *other* episode. Morrow quickly and clearly became the focal lead of the show, but as far as starring status goes, it is as describe here.Monkeyzpop (talk) 21:24, 29 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Is there a valid reason for two References sections?--Gaarmyvet (talk) 21:23, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
The Fan FAQ makes mention only of the commercially-released videotaped episodes - there is no mention of DVD releases at all. Technically this should be removed ... if anyone has another source that can back up the claim that the DVD releases - individual and the complete series box - are taken from the syndicated time-compressed versions, please say so ASAP. this part:
Sergeant Saunders wears a camo pattern helmet cover. The camo is parachute silk and not the pattern used by the US marines in the Pacific campaign.
The show did not take place in the pacific, am I missing something? 68.103.214.82 (talk) 03:55, 12 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
The pilot episode (ep. 11) of "Combat!" is a loose remake of "A Walk In the Sun" by Harry Brown (book and movie). There's the beach landing, the orchard, the tank, the farmhouse objective.... I think this should be mentioned. 50.202.81.2 (talk) 20:47, 1 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I know (from watching the program) that Eric Braeden aka Hans Gudegast -- later to achieve fame as Hauptmann Dietrich in "Rat Patrol" and then as Victor Newman in "The Young and The Restless" -- was also a guest star, or at least a named actor, in at least two episodes, although that may not elevate him to "guest star" status. To avoid accusations that I committed the sin of "original research" I won't add his name to the main article. 2605:E000:CB02:1A00:B130:3ACF:5E85:DCBD (talk) 08:00, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
