Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just modified one external link on Eastern League (baseball). Please take a moment to review my edit. If you have any questions, or need the bot to ignore the links, or the page altogether, please visit this simple FaQ for additional information. I made the following changes:

Well the now defunct Eastern League and the New York–Pennsylvania League (1923–1937) is the same league, just changed names. The Eastern League acknowledges its previous name- https://www.milb.com/eastern/history
Support as this Eastern League article already includes history starting in 1923, in particular section "Complete list of Eastern League teams (1923–2020)". I would also raise the (potentially thorny) question of whether this article should be renamed at some point now that the league is defunct, for more coherent naming consistency with Eastern League (1884) and Eastern League (1916). And history suggests there will be yet another minor league "Eastern League" in the future. :-) Dmoore5556 (talk) 06:14, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
This article probably should be renamed for consistency with previous Eastern leagues, but the other now defunct leagues should probably follow suit, which is what I assume you were implying. Then, all of the links to those articles would need to be updated. Instead, currently named articles could become redirects, though an editor converting a redirect to an article for, say the next Eastern league, may not know to update the articles linking to it. Unless "someone" (i.e. not me) is willing to embark upon this task, I'd say to tackle it as new leagues are formed. Waz8:T-C-E18:57, 4 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
HiWaz8, I'm only referring to the Eastern League (not the International League or others that are recently defunct) as there have been (to date) three distinctly different minor leagues known as the Eastern League. It would be appropriate and helpful to have the years that they operated be the dab: Eastern League (1884) would change to Eastern League (1884–1887), Eastern League (1916) would change to Eastern League (1916–1932), and Eastern League (baseball) would change to Eastern League (1938–2021). I'll raise such a proposal at WT:BASEBALL in the near future, as I would like to get broader input. For now, additional consideration leads me to revise my opinion on the original merger proposal raised here:
Oppose as—at least for now—I see benefit in maintaining independent articles that align with the actual historical names by years. Dmoore5556 (talk) 08:43, 20 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Weak oppose for the reason Dmoore5556 just stated. Granthew, if you're looking to contribute in this area, New York–Pennsylvania League (1923–1937) could certainly use some work! I would, however, support renaming the Eastern League articles to include their years of operation. The reservation I had in my previous comment was that, in a mass conversion due to the fallout from the MiLB reorgainzaion, inevitably, some articles would get enough attention to be renamed while others would not. I suggest keeping the list articles separate but transcluding the appropriate sections of each into this one. In the case of the stadium list, that would preserve additional information such as the gallery and ballpark-related templates/categories with the list itself while adding the relevant table and possibly map to this article. Now that the Eastern League is defunct, I hope to add all Eastern League ballparks to that list, which could include the NY-Penn League ones from 1923-1937. However, I just don't have enough time to devote to that task right now. Waz8:T-C-E17:27, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
