Talk:Fast-roping

Does anyone have any information on when this technique for troops insertion was developed and introducd into military service. To the best of my knowledge, it had been trialled in the mid to late 80s and implemented thereafter. However, that's only going by hearsay of defence force personnel I've spoken to. Soldiers on photo aren't fast roping (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:JGSDF_soldiers_fast_roping.jpg) They are abseiling.
