Clean up

edit

This article needs a lot of work. There are no sources cited. Most of the article is a comparison of hard cover to soft cover. There is no mention of the Rich history of hard cover books. etc, all, Jeepday 16:31, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Was just going to comment on my disappointment in this article's lack of historical information. I'm almost tempted to mark it as {{db-nocontext}}, as the article is essentially just a long dicdef. 128.163.113.201 14:35, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
If someone wants to see what kind of information should go here, look at the paperback page. -- TimNelson (talk) 03:59, 12 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Targetgroup

edit

Is the targetgroup for the entry "Hardcover" specified anywhere? or is the targetgroup in wikipedia always everybody?

Tbj 11:08, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean by targetgroup? Jeepday 13:48, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I removed the link (http://www.kolbus.com Kolbus, the company) it does not have any information that supports the article it a bookbinder company. The page is purely advertising. If you have questions please review Wikipedia:Advertisement#External_link_spamming. Jeepday 03:42, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Typical structure

edit
"Hardcovers generally consist of pages, two boards and a cloth covering them. Their pages are glued into a flexible piece between the boards, and it too is covered by the cloth. A paper covering, usually artistic in nature, is put over the cloth, folding over each horizontal end of the boards."

1. Generally, is any cloth involved at all? Considering a textbook, for example, I think of them as typically being paper, cardboard, glue, and thread. Historically, cloth was usually involved, of course, but isn't it less common these days?

2. Doesn't the paper (I assume this is referring to a dust jacket) fold over each vertical end of the boards (i.e. each edge that extends from top to bottom of the book), rather than each horizontal end?
