Are the numbers correct?

edit

USA is #1 if sorted by three KPIs, but somehow it's not first by the aggregate, how come? Aleck$ (talk) 11:05, 16 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Estonia is twice in the list

When?

edit

I would recommend for a start, that the text ".....as at YYYY." is added to the introduction. Secondly, a description or definition of what the "Global Militarization Index" actually measures (and how it is measured) would make a big difference. Also, does the list end at the United States, or was this merely a convenient cut-off point? Farawayman (talk) 16:56, 4 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

- there is a whole list http://www.bicc.de/our-work/gmi/gmi-table.html?year=2010&sort=rank_asc of countries, i wanted to make a start and chose to end with the usa so people can better measure the data since most militaries in the top 30 are unknown except for america, russia, israel and south korea. China, India and the other european countries are around 70th and 80th places. I hoped people would help me finishing the list as i am a bit lazy, or tell me how i can make lists very easy with computer programs or something.--Shokioto22 (talk) 17:54, 4 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

DYK?

edit

Since this is a new article, you might could check with DYK qualifications, and see if lists are permitted. If you get it on the DYK section, alot more editors will take notice of it, and may offer to help improve it. Boneyard90 (talk) 18:24, 4 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Italics?

edit

Why are some countries in italics?Boneyard90 (talk) 18:35, 4 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Could you explain to me...

...whether the table is supposed to be ordered by the GMI Index column, and if so, why Singapore is ahead of Syria or why Russia is on the list at all, if those values are accurate and up to date? Morgan Wick (talk) 06:31, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. ArticunoWebon (talk) 11:28, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

The website seemed to have moved the original rank and replaced it with the actual columns, the new rank table is here http://www.bicc.de/old-site/index.php?page=ranking-table&year=2010&sort=index_desc The columns explain more about why they chose some countries but the main reason are these reasons as previously written.

comparison of military expenditures with its gross domestic product (GDP); health expenditure (as share of its GDP); contrast between the total number of (para)military forces and the number of physicians and the overall population; ratio of the number of heavy weapons available and the number of the overall population.--Shokioto22 (talk) 17:25, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ukraine is so militaristic, that's its included twice?

Which place is right ? #13 or #22 ? 178.94.230.212 (talk) 12:19, 22 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

It is currently on 22. That might have been in vandalism. Adamgerber80 (talk) 11:54, 16 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
