History

edit

Why does it start with the liquor rules? Is that the most important or encyclopedic thing to know about a small town? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sajita (talkcontribs) 00:40, 17 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Why does "history" begin with the Civil War? Shouldn't it begin with the founding of the town? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sajita (talkcontribs) 00:42, 17 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Zoning controversy"

edit

The above two points seem to have been addressed.

This section oscillates unpredictably between a "place of worship" and a mosque. Surely, if (as the quoted resident implies) the fact that a mosque was proposed, then it should start and stick with that point?

Murder news

edit

A recent BBC news article seems likely to raise the profile of this town, with dark hints of a drug-dealing underculture, murders, rape and (at best) police incompetence. Controversy seems a safe prediction. Aidan Karley (talk) 12:57, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Using "See also:Category" within the body of an article

edit

@Magnolia677: Ok, well you should probably go clean up these articles as well:

Bus
Data mining
Giant panda
Major religious groups
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Music festival
Nightclub
Stock exchange

Let me know if you need more examples. Jb45424 (talk) 12:46, 11 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Statement in the article: "The state completed the suppression of competition by disenfranchising blacks at the turn of the 20th century."

edit

Neither Kentucky nor any of the other border states disenfranchised African Americans as the article contends. There were other forms of oppression, but disenfranchisement was not one of them.

Source: Wikipedia article: "Disenfranchisement after the Reconstruction Era."

This article begins: "Disenfranchisement after the Reconstruction Era[1] in the United States of America was based on a series of laws, new constitutions, and practices in the South that were deliberately used to prevent black citizens from registering to vote and voting. These measures were enacted by the former Confederate states at the turn of the 20th century, and by Oklahoma when it gained statehood in 1907,[2] although not by the former border slave states."

Use of term " union sympathizer"

edit

This term is biased, derogatory and inflammatory. Should use clear and neutral term "union loyalist" or "pro unionist". 24.113.145.157 (talk) 18:38, 11 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
