Talk:Mild sauce

It seems to me that 'mild sauce' is far too generic a term to refer to just something found in Chicago. That's a bit like saying 'hot sauce' is a sauce served at the Punjabi restaurants of Southall, West London — what about all the other millions of hot sauces there are? Given that all the sources cited here say this is uniquely Chicagoan, and a couple of them even refer to it as 'Chicago mild sauce', I propose moving this article to that name (without leaving a redir). I see the validity of this point but if there are so many sauces called "mild sauce" then wouldn't we have articles about some of them? I'm not sure what else someone who goes to the article about "mild sauce" would be looking for. CapitalSasha ~ talk 11:22, 22 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Since the sauce is often referred to as just "mild sauce," I don't think "mild sauce" should be a non-existent page/red link -- it is not true that Wikipedia has no entry about mild sauce. I would be totally happy with it being a disambiguation page, but can we have a disambiguation page with just one entry on it? A redirect would be an alternative. • Keep as is: The article is not about sauce that's mild. It's about a particular condiment, called "mild sauce", that's indigenous to Chicago, and that's used as a topping on fried chicken and other foods.
