Phil Gould → Phil Gould (rugby league) – Per this page view comparison between this page and Phil Gould (musician), there seems to be no WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the phrase "Phil Gould". In fact, even more peculiar is that on third party search engines, most results for "Phil Gould" seem to refer to the subject in Phil Gould (musician). So, I'm proposing that this page be moved in compliance with WP:NCSP#Rugby and then retargeting the leftover redirect Phil GouldtoPhilip Gould (disambiguation) so that readers can determine for themselves which topic they are attempting to locate, in addition to there nit being a clear primary topic yet and the fact that the topic which Philip Gould targets doesn't seem to be referred to as "Phil" at all. Comment. I am sure you meant this, Steel1943, but the usual practice is for the disambiguation to be at the base page name, ie. DAB at Phil Gould with Phil Gould (disambiguation) as a redirect to it, not the way around. (WP:NOPRIMARY says that the base name should "lead the reader to the disambiguation page for the term", so you're not against policy suggesting the other, as the R would lead the reader there, but it's unusual to do it that way round.)

Make sure it's to Phil Gould (rugby league), not Phil Gould (rugby) as is suggested in the article. Never played rugby AFAIK, and probably doesn't care for it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.150.71.154 (talk) 00:41, 22 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Support, but put the disambiguation page at the base name. WP:NOPRIMARY. Even taking all-time page stats, the musician gains (by a gnat's crotchet) fewer than twice as many views as the rugby player. 62.165.200.10 (talk) 00:39, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Support per nomination, but would also support 62.165.200.10's proposal that Phil Gould should be the dab page's main title header since there are two entries for "Phil Gould" and only one for "Philip Gould". Thus, all three men would be listed at the Phil Gould dab page, while Phil Gould (disambiguation) as well as Philip Gould (disambiguation) would redirect to Phil Gould. The political consultant would be unaffected since the Philip Gould link would still flow to his entry where an already-existing hatnote advises that "Philip Gould" redirects here. For other uses, see Philip Gould (disambiguation). That last part can be revised to state, see Phil Gould (disambiguation). —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 08:08, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure if that's what was relayed above, but putting it like that, if the disambiguation page is moved to Phil Gould, I have no opposition to such a move. Steel1943 (talk) 14:49, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

To me, the key sentence in 62.165.200.10's above posting was, "DAB at Phil Gould with Phil Gould (disambiguation) as a redirect to it, not the way around.", although I believe that 62.165.200.10 actually meant to state, "DAB at Phil Gould with Philip Gould (disambiguation) as a redirect to it, not the way around." Since Philip Gould (disambiguation) places Philip Gould, Baron Gould of Brookwood as that dab page's WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, moving the dab page's base name to "Phil Gould", with the introductory line stating, "Philip or Phil Gould may refer to:", not the current, "...may also refer to", would indicate that WP:NOPRIMARYTOPIC applies to Philip as well as to the two Phils. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 15:37, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

As an additional option, if a preference develops for the retention of the form "Philip" within the dab page's main header, I would support repurposing the Philip Gould link, so that instead of redirecting to Philip Gould, Baron Gould of Brookwood, it would become the dab page's base name, obviating the need for the qualifier "(disambiguation)". —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 17:39, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
