I

edit

I had been doing some research on ruptured spleens and decided to clean the article that Wiki had up, since it had been tagged since January of 06. I think it's much better now, and unless anyone else sees something wrong with it, or something that they'd like to see added, maybe now we can take it off the list of things to clean up. The only thing I can think that might be left out is a picture of what a ruptured spleen looks like. And maybe a picture that details where the spleen is located in the body.

Thanks! Chrystelle

Hi Thanx for your work so far. Some improvements in the article by clarifying these questions. The signs listed, are they after rupture or before? You mention no contact sports, is this because a collision is required for rupture or merely stressful sports to the body can cause rupture? The section labelled 'prevention' is really about life without a spleen, not what is required to prevent ruptured spleens.. so actual preventative measured would be useful to know. Is rupture always linked to Splenomegaly?--Dmg46664 (talk) 21:55, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

This article says the spleen is non-essential, given that the main spleen article gives a number of functions, including aiding wound healing, part of immune response, production of lyphocytes etc. is 'non-essential' really the correct term? Starfiend (talk) 12:34, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

New Title

edit

Although the new title appears to be used by several medical journals, one should probably define both terms or provide cites. Indeed a bold change. Not sure most everyone would agree. Moreover, the entire article uses the language of rupture, which I don't think should be changed. --JumpLike23 (talk) 23:07, 21 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ping JumpLike23 - My main concern is that a rupture of the spleen is different I believe in terms of the injury grade it receives. The reason why I made the change is because the article used the ICD code for general splenic injury, so it should be treated as such. Specific trauma articles on Wikipedia are very small retaliative to other medical content articles, so it would not make sense to keep "ruptured spleen" and have another article devoted to spenlic injuries. If you can find any good definition of rupture, feel free to add it. Peter.Ctalkcontribs 00:02, 22 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
