There is an abundance of unsourced content in this article that needs sourcing. Also there is quite a bit of general info that is not specific to this matha. That info should be moved to the article called: Matha.-- — Keithbob • Talk • 00:26, 30 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you think that it is too much detail ; you should have cut only the unnecessary part
People want to know how the next Guru (pontiff)is intiated. You remove without discussion. Is it correct? There is note to develop the article.
People are curious to know how the next guru was intiared. So I have posted here. ( Ithink you never care what reader like ; but only to be very short and save space in the site - But for what sake ??
.Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Shree Sharada Peetha seer Bharati Theertha Swami appointed the successor of the Peetha, on Friday. January 23, 2015
The successor of the Peetha is Kuppa (Kuppuru) Venkateshwara Prasad Sharma who was rechristened as Vidhushekhara Bharati.
The proceedings that started Thursday. January 22, 2015 and continued on Friday. January 23, 2015; started with the sacred fire rituals at Narasimha Vana at 7 am, as a part of his entry into his sanyasa, Venkateshwara Prasad Sharma sacrificed the holy thread, 'shikha' and 'shwetha vastra' to the waters of River Tunga. Bharati Theertha Swami gave him danda, kamandala and the kashaya vastram. Later, both the seers visited the Adhisthana of the earlier seers and paid their obeisance.
Then elder Guru gave ‘Pranavopadesham’ and ‘Mahavakyopadesham’ to his successor (Shishya). The new seer performed the ‘Paryanka showcha’ ritual at a specially designed boat in Tunga river.Shri Bharati Theertha Swami performed the pooja after placing a saligrama on the head of the new seer. The successor was rechristened by Bharati Theertha as Vidhushekhara Bharati, which contains the part of the names of earlier seers Chandrashakhara Bharati and Abhinava Vidya Theertha.
Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati performed the paada pooja of his Guru, after which the devotees paid their obeisance to both the seers. The seers later visited all the temples on the premises of the mutt. In the evening, Bharati Theertha Swami and Vidhushekhara Bharati delivered spiritual discourses. Later in the evening they were taken on golden and silver palanquins around the town <ref>http://www.deccanherald.com/content/455370/sringeri-seer-appoints-successor.html</ref>

Recent development was not posted inthe site. I added it to the site, slightly changing the sentences. As people are curious to Know how a Shishya is taken in a Mutt, the details help. Only bits of information given is of no use as many already know it. But that may be little modified ; why not you yourself update it as the event has taken 11 months ago? To delete everything is too much when update is needed - hope you do not want to discourage me! If you really want help me. please update the site with recent development and let me learn- how to do it ! . Sringeri Mutt is a famous important religious center. Why is it ignored updating? Even you do not allow others to update it! Bschandrasgr (talk) 11:26, 19 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Removal of section "Reforms for a single united Indian religion"
Latest comment: 7 months ago5 comments5 people in discussion
Removing the entire section is warranted because it is not based on facts. Here are the reasons. Please let know how to go about removing it.
1) The Matha does not announce anywhere of the need to form a united Indian religion. The institution is non-sectarian towards those who approach it for guidance. The Matha is not engaged in such campaigns.
2) Both Buddha (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gautama_Buddha_in_Hinduism) and Balaram are mentioned as Avatars of Vishnu in the Puranas. For instance, Krishna is popularly known as the 8th Avatar of Vishnu. This cannot be so unless Buddha is taken as the 9th Avatar. If Balarama is the 8th Avatar, then the popular notion of Krishna being the 8th Avatar would be wrong. The Math Pandits have not done anything new.
3) Go Vegan was a program in Sankara TV and had nothing to do with the Matha per se - Any visitor to this Matha, will notice that this institution, just as any Hindu institution, continues to use milk, silk and honey. Sacrifices are not advocated however this has nothing to do with doctrinal unity.
4) There has never been anything from this Math or any of the other traditional ones regarding Dalits. If the provided link from an arbitrary sourced article from 2011 is true, what has happened in the last decade?
5) The birth place, year and the spot of final Samadhi of Adi Shankaracharya have not been identified by dreams. All the Shankaracharya Maths accept Kalady as the birth place. Agamagochar (talk) 13:29, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
1) correct.
2) correct.
3) correct. And the source has no evidence about Shankaracharya blessings for vegan movement (I have watched all the videos in the link). It is absolutely fake statement. Also I have not found any evidence about PETA welcoming any orthodoxy change....
1) Mutt is a non-sectarian sect. How sectarian can be a non-sectarian sect is a matter of studies and not relevant for this page by now. Any conclusion about this is always sectarian per se.
2) Shankara's arguments against Buddhism is not relevant here. What is relevant is the position of the Mutt about Buddhism nowadays, because the article is talking about a change in orthodoxy.
3) So we can conclude this should be removed from the article since the blessings are not directly in favor of veganism.
