Etymology

The article mentions that, according to legend, the barrio/town's name came from the term "tinghoy" which is a plant. I could not find mention of a plant with that name. I did find the term "tinghoy" to refer to an oil lamp (see wikt:tinghoy). According to the Vocabulario de la lengua Tagala, "tingloy" is the Tagalog word for Amor seco. I also found the term as one of the Tagalog names of Acanthus ilicifolius, according to Blanco's Flora de Filipinas. howdy.carabao 🌱🐃🌱 (talk) 23:35, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
